Shop around if you do...there's a dealership thats been mentioned on TW (not sure which dealership) that sells them at a significant discount.
Personally, I wouldnt do it, stuff generally messes up before the 3/36 expires. But thats me. :)

Took delivery of my red 2024 DCLB OR standard engine Saturday. Drove it home 5.5 hours, very happy with it. More power was immediately evident, 21.5mpg @ 70-80mph for the 1st 4 hours, went up to 22mpg after the last hour @ 60-65mph. The only real upgrade we have were heated seats but in basic form we like it better than our 2019 OR. I don't like the white trim on the dash but oh well. It sits higher than the 3rd gen. Old bed liner works but not perfect, had to trim a bit with medical shears. 3rd gen soft tonneau fits decent. Looks like my KB Voodoo cross bars should fit fine from the test fit I did.

Even on these new one’s I’d bet on them working out potential failures w/in the 60k powertrain coverage, so I’d pass on the extended plan. There’s always exceptions, but normally giving a warranty company your money to cover future problems on a Toyota is a little like paying someone to guarantee the sun rises tomorrow…hopefully that holds true with all these next-gen trucks.

If you truly don’t feel comfortable that she’ll go the distance w/o major component failure despite keeping up on routine maintenance, well then that’s a whole other ball of wax.

Not a bad idea considering the cost of a screen replacement that is not covered in the powertrain, especially if the screen controls any functional operations other than the radio like the AC etc. (Not sure on the Tacoma I haven't looked that close).

    Aisin makes the transmission.

Exactly the point I was making , wouldn't Aisin do the tweeks?

Does the G4 have an Aisin? That's good if it does.

They would, but I am sure Toyota would direct them to do it considering that both companies are basically joined at the hip. Toyota owns 24.9% of Aisins shares and is a big reason that Aisin is still around.

Aisin makes awesome durable reliable transmissions, and is a big part of the Toyota reliability overall. I do hope they don't have a stinker with this 8 speed in the trucks.

One of the things that drew me to Toyota years ago is their transmission reliability, the domestics build horrible transmissions that basically require you to start setting money aside for a replacement the day you drive off the lot.

Toyota (raisin) traditionally has built transmissions that when you ask a tech how is the transmission on the xyz model you get a..."I guess they are good, I have never had to work on one" answer.

For you 4th gen owners, this might be a stupid question but I can't find anywhere mentioning rear window defrost or heated side mirrors. Do you have that or not? I'm guessing this is just now standard, at least I hope so.

No clue if it's standard, some option, if I paid for it and didn't realize it. If it came with heated seats. I have no clue. But both came on my truck.

Sweet, thanks for the info and the pics. Do you have the power slide rear window too?

No. It's the poverty edition TRD OR. I sit in the steerage class along with the other 8 inch infotainment screen owners.
