I have a Rick Mayer on my KLR, agreed about true custom. He got jammed up on the business end, but he knew how to make a seat. But this Corbin is the most comfortable Corbin I have sat on and I scored it for $200. LOL Makes it feel that much better. But an 800 mile day on this Corbin is no big deal.

What I just read is.......I screwed up and broke my brake lines and now I'm scared of hydraulics.....Sound about right? :anonymous:

Braided stainless are def the way to go when you can get them or afford them. On my 1985 Yamaha FJ1100 that had a hydraulic clutch from new but later I got a killer deal on a parts bike FJ1100 and among the goodies I got was a full set of braided stainless lines. My Buell has a braided stainless front brake hose from the factory but they put a dull clear coating on it. I actually prefer the hydraulic set ups

I'll add, the only problem with the Corbin is you cant slide around on it at all and even at 6 ft, I am on the tips of my toes unless I have the suspension set full soft. Regular seat, flat footed, the Corbin width make it tough off road.

that is sweet..you're pretty tall huh? you make that XR look like I make my RR look, standing next to it lol. and cramped? couldn't be me lol

interesting 4.5k-6k is buzzy for you...on mine that's where it starts to soften out, though that might be due to the differences in our tuning/gearing.

Enjoy the power...it's neverending lol. Know what you mean about it not really mattering what gear you're in...the bike just doesn't really care as long as you're above 4k RPM. It makes switching to one of my other bikes a learning experience every time at first, when I have to recalibrate and remember a powerband exists.

    and congrats!

first mod I did to the BMW was a Saddlemen seat. my two hour ride home from LA had my ass entirely numb on the OEM seat. a week later I was doing a 6 hour day in the canyons lol.

just a couple of things tbh
no i replaced with oem stuff because its what i always had on hand and then would forget about it go out and over travel again in the front and rip the brake line... the klx i have zero clue how that happened! i was just ridding it around town and out of nowhere i lost my rear brake and it had a hole in the line.
haha no i never stated im scared of them i was asking how a dirtbike handles the abuse of them... no offense but you riding on the road compared to those two and riding on the dirt is verrry different so i was interested to see how they held up over time.

agreed braided lines are waaay better i plan to swap all my lines on my project car to them since the lines are extremely old and starting to swell. loved them on my old klx and on my old tacoma when i finally got them on the front end lol

Every Ducati I've owned has had a hydraulic clutch, I think the feel of them is a little smoother because you can pretty easily dial out the slack. That said there are a lot more parts, master cylinder, slave cylinder etc, but I've never had a problem. I have broken clutch cables though, but it's a pretty easy fix.

Ill take (super minimal) cable maintenance any day of the week vs the complexity of a hydro clutch..... ask all the KTM / Husky owners how many slave cylinders they have gone through and have left them clutchless... hell I had a buddies husky 350 have the clutch fluid boil after heavy clutch use in the rocks leaving him without a clutch. I wish my super tenere had a cable clutch.

    +1 for cables

i've never had hydraulic, so by default cables are better of course!

Just received those tubes on the mail! All the dirt DIY's I read and watched on YT stated nut outside, and up against the cap. Common reference is the low pressures being run. My wheels from factory have 1 nut visible, and it is tightened to the rim. Guess I'll see where I end up when I need to change a tube.

Just registered the new bike, $733.65 :puke:

Puts me at 7,433 into it. Figure if i don’t like it after a month or so i can still break even, if not make a little. list at 9, take anything above 8.

I think i’m going to buy a taller windscreen and a carpuride carplay unit that’ll dock into the nav prep easily and cleanly. those combined is about $350 more.

What pressure do you run? I'd imagine higher pressures than the typical dirt pressures (7 -15 psi it seems?) there isn't much chance you'll be slipping the tire on the rim. I'm currently running 25 - 27 and don't see much chance for an issue.
