Camper Shell

I am looking for a camper shell for my 2018 Tacoma sr5 double cab. Does anyone know of any places that have some that do not cost an arm and a leg?

 

nope, they are all expensive.
Look for used in all the typical places,,, be prepared to travel and to pounce quickly!
I drove 8 hours to get mine, and we struck the less than 48 hours beforehand. Luckily the seller was a standup man and honored the deal, as several others offered more by the time I got there.

 

This. Be prepared to wait 2+ years for one your color. If you don't have the ability to drop everything you're doing to be the first person to make an offer on one, you'll probably miss it.

 

Yep! on and off searching took me over 2 years to find one.
Hindsight; I wish I would have just paid the money and ordered a new one when I bought my truck,, as I think luck was a good part of it. I will next truck for sure.

I got a quote for a new one for $2200 not color matched

 

I think we've talked about this before, but I could definitely support this. I waited a little over 2 years to find one, searching craigslist and marketplace nearly hourly, every.. single.... day.. I only ever found 2 in my color. The first, 10 hours away, ONE person beat me to it. The 2nd, I found a Craigslist ad, shot the guy a text. And within minutes, he listed on Marketplace and messaged him there too. Explained I'm the same guy that just texted you regarding the CL ad, I hope you can tell that I'm a serious buyer, I'm at work, can't possibly leave right now, but I'll send a deposit via cashapp/paypal/whatever just to secure it until I can leave work in 3 hours. Dude was extremely cool and honored his word to hold it for me, no deposit. Met that night, and that was that. When I got there, he said he had various offers, some offering double/triple his asking price. Thank goodness he was a man of his word and sold to me.

 

Ya I can't find any on there or craigslist in my area of Florida.

 

What color you looking for? Also, if you're looking for used, you unfortunately don't get to be picky, but theres always a chance you could get lucky and find one with all the add-ons your heart desires. Rare, but still possible. 5 ft or 6 ft bed?

As Chew said, don't count out just buying new. I wouldn't even consider buying used and painting, unless it was just a beyond stupidly good deal. If you've got a unique color, you may wait years before even seeing one pop up, and if you're not looking daily, odds are 10 people beat you to it and are willing to pay more. Its definitely possible, not trying to discourage you. But take it from 2 dudes who actually did wait more than 2 years to find one, looking daily.

 

I found one on here after looking for about a year. It was the wrong color and 5 hours away but I got it anyways.
Be sure to search all the terms: cap, shell, camper, etc..
