    @Corny Taco that's a very thorough job!

Was killing time in between other house projects. Installed an "Untenna" 'cause when I got the truck the previous owners did the good old Unintended Antenna Delete. Instead of replacing the entire antenna assembly, I opted to drill it out (from the looks of it they tried a counter bit to extract it, tried is the objective word because all threads were thrashed and the snapped off antenna was still there). After drilling out enough space that the Untenna screw would seat nicely, used some automotive weatherproof epoxy to press fit it in. I haven't listened to terrestrial radio in about 7 years so, won't be missed.

That's sad. I love terrestrial radio. It fascinates me.

I’m not a wiz at the reasoning behind it all, but to my understanding, the butyl mat (siless, kilmat, ect.) helps cut down on the metals and plastics from resonating with sound waves. Everything, even our own human bodies, has a resonant frequency where it vibrates A LOT which is what causes rattles and buzzing from rubbing up against other things. The butyl itself does a little to help prevent noise from penetrating, but that is not it’s main purpose. The CCF doesn’t do much for penetrating either, but is supposed to act as a buffer between the Butyl mat and the MLV. The MLV is where all the noise cancelation happens which is why you see guys putting it all on their floors and roofs. The eggcrate essentially does the same thing. It is less efficient, but it has the advantage of being very light weight and moldable. When I was planning all this out, I read on many threads of guys having issues with fitment and adhesion in the doors. After a few months, the MLV was all fallen off inside the doors which can damage your expensive speakers.

I do intend on fully deadening with butyl, CCF, and MLV in the rest of the truck, but that’s a big chunk of change and a crap ton of time that I don’t have available right now.

The sound system I’m installing has a lot of power going to it and it’s really loud with a lot of bass so I have to do all of this to my doors or it’s going to be rattle city. It of course helps majorly with the sound quality and speaker response.

    I hope this helps man.

    Totally. That makes sense.

I like that idea for the doors. That makes sense.

I have MLV at my house from another project. Maybe I'll save that for roof and floors.

So with your plan are you gonna do it like this?

    Doors: Butyl/CCF/Eggcrate
    Back: Butylr/CCF/MLV
    Floors:Butyl/MLV
    Roof: Butyl/CCF/MLV

The CCF isn’t necessary with the doors. It was a very tight fit as is and I think it would made things more difficult.

The floor will have a CCF buffer as well.

I forgot to mention this during my long post, but CCF also acts an insulator because of the air within the foam. It should help to keep the truck cold/warm. A bonus lol.

Correct me if I'm wrong here.
    Okay so butyl everywhere.
CCF on the roof, floor and back
    MLV wherever the ccf is.
Egg crate on doors with butyl

Tell me about it, my wife and I would change our plans if we could. Not sure how well camping is going to work, I was joking that I might need to get the cowl intake mod done too before we leave

Depends on where you are going. But it might not be too bad. I'm in the mountains but that doesn't mean it won't happen here. My front yard has a creek in it.

Will do. I'm sure it will still be better than my oem one. Mine is completely falling apart on the top.

I renewed my vinyl wrap for my roof and hood.
My truck is Blue Ribbon Metallic.
Roof: Gloss Avery Dark Blue Metallic (very close in color match, but slightly lighter)
    Hood: 3M Black Carbon Fiber

I had the prior wrap on my roof and hood for 4 and 3 years, respectively. I'll make sure I don't do that again since the wrap deteriorates badly. Better to replace the wraps in 2 years.

I wrapped them myself and it was very easy to do. It's crazy what people will charge to wrap the hood and roof. I think it was $600 for the roof and $1K for both. Materials were less than $200.

Preserved the paint below for 7 years now.

Large flat surfaces are pretty easy to do, however you start throwing complicated shapes into things and it becomes a PITA. Wrap shops can honestly charge whatever they want because at this point, every Tesla owner will pay anything to stand out.

You can say that again. I got bored and wrapped the center dash piece, It was a total pain but came out alright. Now the corners of the vents start to detach when it gets hot though. But the pattern of that wrap helps hide it. I also did the silver pieces around the cluster and the tweeters, those were easy.

I wrapped my a pillars like 8 years ago. Was going to do all the pillars in the truck but after fighting both sides I said nope not gonna do it. If you zoom in you can see both a pillars. Don't mind the missing windshield. I was in the middle of replacing it.
