I have some family in New Bern so I know where you are. 5.29’s I got a few prebuilt diffs from ecgs they are in NC was an easy swap highly highly recommend. The 3.5 obviously has more power over the 2.7 but I thought my stock gearing with 4.30s were bad can’t imagine 3.90s especially with bigger tires/weight. I added a lift, bigger tires, and about 500lbs of added weight and it drives better than off the dealer lot. I still get 22-24 mpg and that’s with the 70+ speed limits over here and it’s not flat. OTT with a regear is a night and day difference. If I had the 3.5 I would probably go 4.88s unless you were planning some 35s or a really heavy rig. It cost me about 1700-1800 all in with me doing the work, if I was starting over re gear and a tune would be the first mods.

Nice hell yeah I would definitely go need to get a trip going. I don’t have a ton of experience would be nice not going myself. At the moment i live in Matthews but closing on a house in Mooresville the 23rd of this month. Nice looking truck I have a similar lift bilsteins all around 1.1 in the front and icon stage 2 in the rear got tired of the saggy diaper look with the weight of the topper and gear.

any chance anyone has some 255s on 16? scs br6 wheels? Currently running 285 wildpeaks but need new tires in the coming weeks. Going back and forth between new set of 285 falkens or switching to them in 255. Weight i think drops 3lbs. But now i am also seeing the Cooper strongholds that are only 285 that only weigh 54lbs. Tough decisions. That is a big drop in rotational mass going from 63lbs a tire to 54lbst

I recently did a 3350 mile trip on my goo3 255/85/16. With a wedge camper fully loaded .from hwy speeds to corigated roads..forest roads...jeep traks..a bit of wheeling...crik crossings..magruder corridor...
#1 they are lighter than my previous 285/75/16.i can feel my gears better (6spd man)with lighter tires
#2 they are more PSI sensitive ..they heat up (underload on road hwy speeds) they can Ballon up and get steery...ifound 32psi..cold...would heat up to 35psi was good for me and my biuld.
#3 they can be a bit steery...in the mountain turns 6%grades with my biuld. Keep the hands at 10..n..2 on the steering wheel ..n don't tx you'll be fine

#4 offroad they are like having ripsaws on all four wheels ....lighter on the steering rack for sure ...narrow helps in tight spots
"Rippin stick" nickname came about in idaho roads

over all I really like the size and am hoping to find a LIGHT weight under 55lbs all terrain rated tire in this size.

    LIGHT weight all terrain ??????

Anybody with 255/85R16’s have OEM mud flaps? I’m thinking about getting mud flaps and don’t want to waste the money if they rub. Thanks!

Yes. Running 255 85 16's on stock SR5 wheels and stock mudflaps. Zero rub on or offroad.

has anyone been fine no rubbing with 285s and switched to 255s and had rubbing? I have 6112 up front, lift in rear, uca and cmc done and br6 wheels 16x8 with 4"bs -12mm offset.

I dont currently rub with 285 wildpeaks. Thinking about going with the same tires in 255

If all you are changing is a tire size that would be similar overall diameter and narrower, then no there should be no rubbing. In this scenario, you'd be more than likely to get rubbing by changing wheel specs than tire size.

Small lift, slightly oversized tires, well...
I'd recommend going with Rekgen mudflaps rather than OEM. If you go offroad around rocks, the stock mudflaps break, Rekgens bend. They mount to the same holes.

So it looks like the 235/85/16 fit on a stock 2022 off-road with no lift correct?

Looking between the Nokian Nordman 7 SUV snow tire or the Nokian hakkapeliitta LT3 heavier tire.

    Any recommendations between those two?

Very minor rubbing on front fender liner. Plan to try hear gun before doing and cutting.

6112 up front set for 1.4" with a 1/4" spacer on BOTH sides.

RXT option 1 in back with 5100's

Rides so smooth. Couldn't be happier.

If you aren't going off-road (rocks and sticks) during the winter, then the LT3 is probably not necessary.
I'm using the 7s and they are plenty strong. Next set will likely be the "9SUV."

Edit: looks like the 7 is no longer available in Canada; replaced by the 9. Also: if you want skinny (235/85) the LT3 is your only option.

That's a 31.7" (approx) tire...about the same size as stock, but narrower.
