I'm gonna go ahead and say it:

Savage and Cooke is the better CA distillery than Redwood Empire. I'm enjoying the shit out of this one and may go get a backup.

 

I am in CA and did not even know they existed. I will have to attempt to l find a bottle an check them out. My sister lives in Northern Ca. I think a tasting trip is in order some time in the near future.

She has a place in South Lake Tahoe, so a trip to Frey Ranch with my BIL is already in the works.

 

Read up on Dave Phinney if you haven’t already. Started out with Robert Mondavi, started the Prisoner Wine Co. (source of finishing casks for High West Prisoner’s Share) as well as Orin Swift, sold those off and has since started up Savage and Cooke.

Not such a different story from the Carters except that Savage and Cooke distills their own stuff and Old Carter is (was) an NDP

Resurfacing this to mention that my boss is in British Columbia for the 3rd time since this post and FINALLY managed to score a couple bottles of this for me. He spoke to the owner and they're meeting up in person to do the exchange! I'll enjoy 1 & save the 2nd for when my son Wyatt can enjoy it with me. It'll be a bit

 

This fun ride is almost done. My first bottle from them and it was fantastic. I’ll keep my eye out for another. Cheers.

 

For all of the stuff here in the mid-west (OHIO) that is super hard to find if not non-existent, that is one that is actually pretty regularly available.
