How does the engine behave with the boost at the low end? I remember you saying the engine gets temperamental before it spins fast enough.

It likes it more than I expected honestly. I still dont lug it down, but the drivability around 2000-2300rpm is much better and it chugs along quite a bit better with feeling like you need to downshift less. The torque definitely feels better down low, but the economy has suffered lol. I need to adjust my target AFR in vacuum and low boost and see if that helps some.

I spoke with the machine shop yesterday and the forged 2TR is still a work in progress. I dropped it off late August and expected it to take 6-12 months, so no surprises there. Hopefully I’ll have it back by the end of 2025 :D

It's less Tacoma and more mod
Man that's one backed up engine machine shop. We usually need about 3 weeks for something last minute to get done, one if we call it in and arrange ahead of time.

Yeah they are definitely backed up on engine builds. They push people dropping off heads only to be checked/resurfaced to the top of the list so that’s helpful if you don’t need a full rebuild, but then everything else gets backed up. The quality of their work has been good from what I’ve seen though, so I can be patient. Im out in the country so there aren’t many options unless you drive to the big city

Holy smokes that great! Steady, with little addition depending on the type of problem that arises I take it?

Removed my 3rd gen tacoma air box/filter today. The stock air box worked well, but I prefer the louder turbo spool and BorgWarner BOV noises with the conical filter. Also capped off the HKS BOV as the pshhh every time letting off the throttle was getting old.

Lol I’m glad it’s no more or I’d be thinking of that every time I shifted now. It kinda reminds me of a subaru wrx. It’s okay for that car, but im less of a fan on a truck
