I'm 48 $669/6 months with progressive. I've seen about a $20/month increase this year. No accidents, I recently added road side assistance it was only an extra $6.

We are all paying for the glut of crime and uninsured motorist, it seems stealing and driving has become what some deem a right.

OP, take your GEICO coverage numbers and shop around, talk to a agent or two and do some cost comparisons. I took my ALLSTATE quote over to Geico and after crunching the numbers, they sheepishly said they couldn't beat them. That was just one, I wasn't going to spend days chasing quotes or lose sleep and stressing out if one was twenty dollars lower, but that's something for you to consider.

If you think insurance rates suck now, just wait until claims start coming in to replace damaged power tailgates and stolen seats that have shock absorbers…

$50-65k new Tacomas = gonzo replacement costs for parts.

    My 2019 is 654.00 every 6 months, 500 ded……no tickets, no claims 58 yo.

USAA…….2 increases in 2 years but they’re still in line with the competition.

Get this: My 2011 300C Hemi is 524.00, same coverage but it’s not worth anything compared to the Tacoma. They say “because it’s got a Hemi”.

And damage from those who flee the scene too. At least $2700 of damage from a parking lot sideswipe on my wife's Rav4 this weekend because someone didn't have the balls to do the right thing and report.

I had a similar experience with my insurance going up out of nowhere, even though I hadn’t had any claims or tickets in years. It’s frustrating when rates climb without much reason, especially when you’re careful on the road.

When I was looking for better options, I found a service for comparing insurance in Finland that helped me see all the available plans side-by-side. It’s a free tool, so it made it simple to compare policies and find one that fit my needs without adding unnecessary extras. I think it’s worth checking out to see if there’s a better fit for your situation.

Since the thread has been resurrected..
    $2,376, annually through Farm Bureau.

    This covers:
    2018 3rd gen Tacoma Sport
    2018 5th Gen 4runner Limited
    2022 RXR Pro XP

Bucking the upward trend, ours went down 20 bucks a month, last month.

They're also a $70 billion company, a $2 billion ad budget is not a big deal. Good advertising pays for itself. Progressive is one of the few insurers actually turning a profit on their insurance products. Most companies right now are relying heavily on investment income to stay profitable/offset claim losses because they're doing a terrible job underwriting and are losing money on the actual insurance they sell. Progressive's underwriting allows them to price more competitively than the companies that are losing money on their products. In turn, it's why they spend $ on ads...strong pricing advantage + struggling competition + ad dollars = profitable growth by poaching the best customers from those struggling companies.

A little more wouldn't be out of line at all. A little less, and I'd wonder why.

That's become very common and not just in parking lots, very often the perps take off from accidents in the street also. When I was growing up leaving the scene of an accident was almost always someone drunk, now it's a lot more than that. It's sad, there's a distinct lack of honesty and character in many US citizens these days.

Good timing this thread came up - I remembered that my renewal with Progressive was coming up. To my suprise, it was $1241 for 6 months - '21 Tacoma Sport and an '06 S2000.

I started a new quote with progressive - they even knew I was an existing customer and pulled all my info - just paid in full for my new Progressive policy - $658 for 6 months.

You guys saved me $583!!!! Hilarious that its with the same company, but whatever, I will take it!

We (those that pay) are paying for those who don't,, ie the unlicensed and uninsured drivers out there, since driving has morphed in to a right, not a privilege.
I don't like it either, but insurance companies are going to raise rates to cover the not so new shift in society.

A family member used to be a claims adjuster for Progressive and told me part of the reason their rates are so high is because they'll insurance certain risk groups (dui, ect.) that others won't.

Yup. Happened a few years ago at the intersection 2 houses down from me. I was working in the yard and was lucky to get the fleeing person's information.

And yes, I'm sure alcohol or such is a factor at times..which it seems like the fleeing person even if caught later is better off all in all, plus many people don't push the issue re criminal charges and lets them off the hook further.

I'd never dream of even scuffing someone's vehicle by accident without waiting around or leaving a note if all else fails, regardless of the vehicle. Disgusting..a few years ago someone dented the door on the same vehicle (I happened to be 10 feet away) and the driver lied right to my face, even when I told him everything I saw and heard including him laughing about it.

That we do, and yes it has to come from somewhere. What's frustrating is it seems zero repercussions for those who don't have insurance, a license, etc..

That's the niche Progressive carved out initially, but they have long since veered away from the non-standard market. That market is now largely the Safe Auto, General, etc... companies now.
