2024 Tacoma truck bed offset misalignment (many)

Went down to 3 dealerships ( considering a new one ) and noticed 8 tacomas with a left offset in relation to the cab with some as much as 1/2” off. Pointed it out to each sales person and they saw it immediately when brought to their attention

If you get back near both tail lights on each side and sight down each side equally looking at the cab, you will see your bed is not centered to the cab. It should be and if not, have them fix it
Very shoddy construction coming out of Mexico these days and not what it used to be..,,.

The only reason I notice this is my new then 2005 taco had this bad and was corrected under warranty when I showed them
My current 2016 sport was ok and did not need any adjustment

Check yours and have them fix it before your warranty runs out !

The entire truck honestly has build quality issues

Wonder how many Lemon claims are out there. Or how many replacement vehicles have been given by Toyota.

 

Late 3rg gen models have the same issue. The few 4th gens I've have looked at up close had pretty bad body gaps, especially around the bed and headlight areas.

 

Everything since Covid has been built like crap. I had a 2021 tundra limited trd off road the door mouldings were coming off, the headliner by the back window was falling off and it had a rear main seal leak at only 11k miles

 

This is not new. Many a legend of truck beds before the 4G and the <whatevah> being slightly wonky. Don't believe me? Go to the 3G channel. And then go look at any other truck of any other brand. This is not rocket building. This is a mass produced consumer vehicle.

 

I don't see poor body gaps on the ford or chevy offerings.

 

But that truck would have been built pre-covid manufactuing problems.

My 2009's bed was crooked...loosen them bed bolts and re-align it..

 

Whichever is beside me at the stoplight. This is going to be a he said/she said. You do you and I will do me. Stuff is everywhere. Pick a truck that offends you the least. Don't care which brand, it doesn't matter to me. But I can see it every day.

 

Everybody has a camera in their pocket and nobody has a picture of this on a new 4g Tacoma?

I'm not saying its impossible, but highly unlikely that 8 tacomas have "up to 1/2" difference in bed to cab on one lot at the same time.

 

Relax man. I was curious. I've been shopping full size trucks for my growing family I haven't see any poor panel gaps from the full-size American offerings.
