A coworker of mine used to have an FTR. Its a sweet bike, and about as close to a street bike as they make. Plus they have figured out the secret formula on how extra cubic inches can actually equate to performance

The Harley thing is just outright dumb. Folks learn a new buzzword and suddenly get all uppity over it.

I personally would never buy a new Harley, so I wasn't really up to date on them. The thumbnails/headings suckered me in

Indian makes cool bikes that outclass HD. I got on the HD train early on, if it was too be done over, I would have gone with the Indian Scout at some point.
Check out "The Worlds Fastest Indian" on Netflix. That'll get you stoked.
1920 Indian Scout still holds the fastest streamlined, under 1000cc, land speed record set in 1967.

it was always explained to me it was more to prevent any glass or plastic littering the track in the event of a crash, more so than preventing distraction due to the lights. which seems sound to me

the plastic still shatters though and leaves debris

I've been to a track that didn't require taping of the lights, had I known prior I probably wouldn't have pulled my fuses either and just run it normally.

Never owned or ridden one but they seem to be pretty solid bikes. Really wanted a Scout Bobber for my first bike, and that FTR still calls my name today lol.

I dig the ftr! But I can't afford 2 bikes and I'm getting a little old for fast bikes, lol. But damn that bike looks cool. I heard one running once at a stop light, sounded really good.

It was, years ago when headlights were glass. Most crashes end up out in the dirt or grass. Now it's just an old practice that continues to exist. Fairings make way more of a mess, they usually explode pretty good

Here's a photo showing why full bellypans are so important, should be required moreso than taped lights. My friends oil pan developed a hole on track and created quite the mess. That's him with a brush trying to clean it up

I mean… your fairings are plastic too and you don’t have to tape them up…

Theres another one, the Chigee, that uses the BMW's wonderwheel so you can control it from the handlebar, but its over $500 instead of $200, and otherwise very very similar. I figure if I like the carpuride and keep the S1000XR, I'll upgrade down the road.

Went out this morning on a nice ride to clear my head on the FZ1. Pretty much retraced where I rode the GSXR yesterday.
Before I left I installed the new grips that were meant for the 750 on to the FZ1 (it still had orig stock grips) and I tried stock 17t front sprocket and a -2 rear sprocket. Cruising RPM is nice. Still has plenty of pull so I think I will run it for a bit to see how I like it. Really stock gearing is just about the sweet spot.
I am going to keep the FZ1 up forsale,, don’t really want to but if I get 8k then I might sell but will not let it go for less. It’s just too nice.

I really want to ride an FTR but if I ever decide I want a cruiser, the Scout Rogue or the new Sport Scout (I think this is replacing the rogue) would be what I went for. Still the cruiser look but it has a little more skinny and sporty wheels/tires for better handling.

The only cruiser I have any experience with was the little Rebel 250 I owned years ago. I think it was a 1993 model  Thing was cool for what it gave me.....but damn what a dog. I paid $300 for it.
