The new ones have aluminum bodies now. My elite series has them. Springs are still steel though.

Yeah I wish I could just convert them over, but the top cap and internals are completely different. Those elites are slick though. I'm trying to convince my brother to get those for his 4runner

$2500 for 2 shocks was a VERY tough pill to swallow though

Yes, it’s crazy that TSP is a common additive to processed food.

Low compression adjusters has been so nice for coming off tall rocks on the trail. Zero body roll is a luxury. And then to soften it up for small washboard stuff made a big difference for cornering speed on washboards as well.

100% not worth it if you're clicking those dials through the year though.

Anyone know where I might keep an eye on, or get notified when an OEM part that's on national backorder becomes available? I'm looking for an AC clutch for my 2015 (P/N: 88410-04062).
Alternatively, if there's an aftermarket option that you've personally used and would recommend I'm interested.

I replaced mine in my 2010 but only needed the first part. The Rubber on the magnetic clutch shredded.
I think I still might have the other two parts. I can look when I get home.

That was a pain in the ass...Had to remove the fan guard and the fan blades and then the custom tool didn't quite fit. It took a LOT of elbow grease.

That's exactly what's happened to mine as well. I was planning to have a local garage replace it for me. I have better things to spend my time on.

Yeah...It was seriously 3+hrs of dicking around with that thing...and back of hand was chewed up and you can't get a good purchase on the face. It was one of those 10 seconds from throwing in the towel and it finally budged...
Basically everything you work on a 2nd gen :)
You can get after market on ebay for like $50

    This guy says 40 available...

You might call the parts desk at Olathe Kansas Toyota and ask if they can BOLO for you. Their customer service at the parts desk is crazy good which is surprising considering how aggressively they price the parts.

    Damn. Nice.

unrelated: got a six day weekend August 29- sept 3. Any suggestions on where to go? One train of thought is back to ADKs. Maybe @Brownmatthall n Audrey can come by to say hi.
Another is to go like to cutler, Maine. Only see one dispersed spot there tho so kind of risky

Can always make the haul to Moosehead lake (lily pond State Park) and dip into north wood Maine from there.

Another good one for something more laid back is forest road 71 in VT. There's plenty of camping off the road there. Can travel up to Kelly stand Rd, go west to Manchester VT, then travel just a little farther north to Forest road 73.

Well it's been a week. Slowly getting rebuilt. Springs had to be torch cut off. Roasted a soft mallet getting the perch off. Spring rings were bonded together (aluminum steel oxidation).

But we are on the path of redemption. 20240813_102351.jpg 20240813_140431.jpg 20240813_155512.jpg

On a related note, does anyone know of a shop in NH that can throw a nitrogen charge in these after I rebuild them? Standard Schrader valve.

Why not just send them back to Fox? Starts at $90 p/shock and goes up depending on the model.
