My 2018 has an issue whenever I put it in accessory mode for longer then 10 minutes, my battery dies. I need to jump myself to get the battery going again. After that, I can go back to normal driving, and it starts up like normal. It's happened 3-4 times so far. Whenever I leave in accessory mode for an extended period, it prompts me to check the battery level.

I've had my truck serviced several times for different things, but never had any issue with the battery and it reads OK. Is there something I'm doing wrong?

Have battery load tested and test for parasitic draw. Now, in accessory mode, there should be a higher draw, but maybe test when Off.

What does "reads ok" mean? It sounds like a weak battery. Best thing is to get the battery load tested.

If this is the original battery that came with your truck, it's 6+ years old. A bit beyond the time for replacement.

Probably after 6 years your battery is telling you, its time. I replaced mine at the 5 year mark, just cuz.

The message prompting you to check your battery is basically just warning you that you are using battery without charging. It sounds a lot scarier than it actually is. If you are actually having problems from only brief usage in accessory mode, then you need a new battery.

    Time for a new battery.

What are the resting volts, and what are the cranking volts?

An acceptable battery should not have a resting voltage (fully charged, engine off for minimum 1 hour) below 12.2V, and should never drop below 10 during engine crank. There should be acceptable charging of 13.5-14V when the engine is running.

Batteries work until they do not. They will work until "just one more cell out of 100" dies, and there will be no warning usually that that number has been reached. But be glad you have been in controllable places instead of alone in the middle of nowhere without immediate hope of restarting.

Because sometimes you get home, but you can't go inside until Neil finishes his drum solo.

Sometimes you just need a minute.

OP, sounds like the battery is at the end of its life, and it's time for a replacement.

I actually incorporate extra time in my morning routine so I can sit in the parking lot at work with that exact expression for 10-20 before I go in. Truck is in ACC mode during that time and I watch the battery drop with one of these

I've had the dealer do a few inspections and maintenance on the truck and they tested the battery (last year, unfortunately) and it was okay then. I'm pretty sure it's the original battery.

I've bought Costco lead acid batteries with good success. No need to overspend as most batteries are the same and are only different by price, color, stickers and advertising propaganda.

If it's the original it's due to be replaced. A test last year won't be recent enough to know the current state of the battery.

I use an Odyssey Battery PC1700 with a Victron Energy Smart BatteryProtect so I don't drain it so low that my truck won't start.

A lot of performance on a battery can change in a year. I wouldn't even waste time having it tested, you are well overdue for a new one, so it's a good start, and will probably fix your issue.
