I like the new wheels look primarily. How reliable the vehicle will be in the long run only time will tell

I rented one in Denver, and drove it on dirt. The ONE nice thing: it was zippy.

I prefer the more engaging driving experience the manual has over an automatic

One nice thing? Its not as ugly as the Tundra.
I have to wonder what the designers of these cars are thinking today and its not just Toyota.
$40000 plus dollars to drive around in something that kooks hideous and more so every year.
Cant get into that ugly factor anymore. We stopped buying into that.

Compared to an extremely vocal and bitter Gen2 minority that attempted to take control of the entire Gen3 narrative back in’ 2016, Gen3 owners have been relatively restrained in their criticism. And patient. That, despite some serious early questions about the new one. “Jealous” would probably not be an appropriate descriptor. “Let down” might be closer to the mark.

As far as first impressions go, Toyota kicked the hornet’s nest with their crazy prices, before we could even touch one. Then the QC delays… then the early complaints voiced by Gen4 owners themselves.

We already see cash on the hoods, so for Gen4, just first make good with early buyers who are rightfully frustrated, fix the quality issues (a la 2018), and we may finally have a finished truck that’s pretty good again.

Not so nice that the MT is available only with a detuned engine, not with the hybrid (not that i'd want a hybrid), and only on lower trims...

I was at dealer yesterday getting an oil filter for my 3rd gen. Sat in a new 2024 4th gen in showroom. I actually thought the interior was quite nice. Even had a driver's side grab handle. Also sat in a new land cruiser that was also quite nice.

    They've got potential.

My late father-in-law coached high school sports his whole life. His definition of Potential.

    "You ain't worth shit; yet."

That's how I feel about the 4th gens. I think they still need to get some bugs worked out, but I do think they have potential to be a good truck.
