My dad was always watching Clint Eastwood movies and he still quotes them to this day lol. The Good, The Bad and The Ugly; Fist Full of Dollars; Dirty Harry; Hang em High; The Outlaw Josey Wales. He had quite a list of those movies.

Funny thing is I've never owned a Harley and most likely never will. Closest I'll get is the Buell in my avatar that I bought new back in 1995. As you're well aware Harley Davidson is a huge supporter of the Muscular Dystrophy Foundation and always had some big fund raising rides for it. In 1996 I signed up with the dealership where I bought the Buell and in my first year I was their number 2 fundraiser behind only the shop owner! I repeated that feat in 1997. In 1998 while I signed up for it I knew going in it would be an off year. The shop owner's wife asked me one afternoon when I had stopped in how my fund raising was going and I told her that it would be an off year for me. Where I worked we were having temporary layoffs and it wasn't looking good. Next words out of her mouth were to ask how MY job was and to tell me that if I lost my job they would hire me immediately. We talked a bit more and it led to a part time job in the parts room that lasted for over 16 years and the sale of the dealership to new owners who kept me on. Only job I've ever had where I never even filled out an application! I think it was in my second year when they realized it and made me fill one out and backdate it.

I should be under it but it's close. Bike should be around 250 and the rack another 60ish.

I was the token male in the HDFS Title Dept, either that or a good work ethic saved me from two workforce cuts, back around 2008, was able to retire over eight years ago, thanks to their 401k and money from my late moms estate. Retired right after they changed the bonus structure as our dept kept getting double digit bonuses.

Crazy. Tried looking up some manuals but you need a VIN for VW .ca and .com. Then usual google shows all kinds of results from no towing, and right up to 3,500 (which would be what you said). How much pressure did you need to add to your bags when loaded?

I don't think it's in the NA manuals. But I do believe it is in EU, regardless I have an aftermarket hitch not oem one.

Just weighed the bike. 240.2 lbs and the rack was 68.6 lbs. Total: 308.8

I added 45 psi yesterday when I did a test drive. It drove fine other than being ass heavy still. This is with the 45 psi. Squatted about 3/4 inch measured from concrete to rear wheel well.

Sounds like you made the right move.

I have a ton of great memories and stories from my years there and made some great friends that I'm still in contact with. I got to ride a huge variety of bikes, lead demo rides, got to take bikes for the weekend, even had the owner's give me their car to drive when my old truck left me sit. When the original shop owners sold the business the owner's wife came over to me and handed me a decent sized shopping bag full of stuff with instructions to go put it right in my truck and only open it once I got home. They gifted me a slew of Buell memorabilia including the paint chip samples, slides to be used in advertising, old sales literature for the first years of Buell before Harley got their hooks into it, and more. I may well be the only part time worker ever to have business cards with my name on them. Not to brag but I was damned good at my job.

When the business sold the new owners kept on select staff and I was pleased to make that cut. I stayed on with them for quite a few years and when the shop moved to its new location I was even put in charge of laying out the first displays in the new parts department. I even got commission on my sales. Like you said though around 2008 a lot of stuff changed and it was never the same after that. I blame Harley corporate on most of it with the push for higher profits and more concern with their shareholders than their customers. I had gradually cut back to the point I only worked every other Saturday but after a certain point it just wasn't fun anymore and so before it felt too much like a job or worse yet I would begin to NOT like motorcycles I walked away. I'm still friends with the owners and stop in periodically. I've left it known that if short staffed I'm still willing to help them out.

    LOL

I'm not a Harley guy, but there are some I would like to have. An FXRT, XLH from the 60's, XR1200 and just a standard old Electra-glide. The Electra-glide and FXRT would probably see some use, the sportsters would just be dicking around bikes for the weekend

I would certainly agree it's a toy. But not one I plan on living without, for as long as i am physically capable.

I put hundreds of miles on V-rods. Broke in our first Softail Deuce. Rode Fat Boys, Heritage Softail, Dyna Wide Glides and Low Riders. I rode an 883 Sportster exactly once. POS. Took and Electra Glide on a vacation. We were also a Triumph dealer so I rode Speed Triples, Daytonas, T-Birds and Tbird Sports, Trophys, and more. Rode everything Buell offered at the time. Used bikes? I can't even remember everything I got to ride of the used stuff. Moto Guzzi LeMans, Ducati 851 and 888, Honda Superhawk, Suzuki TLR1000, just to name a few. I even got to take home the first owner's Buell RS1200 Westwind and there were only 117 of those ever made. He even had the 1987 Buell RR1000 Battletwin, the final one produced but he didn't let me try that.
