If you cannot stand the heat ... well ... I guess you move to N. California.

Do not know about September in N. Texas and N. New Mexico, but heat advisories remain in PHX until October. Snow/ice will likely not be an issue.

But watch the drop from Flagstaff to PHX on I-17 with big moving trucks.

I lived in North Phoenix most of my life. My husband, however, likes the cold. My parents just so happened to live in New England near the TD Gardens. I got Bruins season passes, my husband figured out he doesn't like the snow and ice and hates New England infrastructure. I'm just going home.

Oh I love the heat. No worries about me. My husband is the cold freak. I can't handle California for more than a few weeks though. It's like driving in New York.

It’s a dry heat so no problem :). Actually where I live in the north Sacramento valley our summers are mid 90’s to 100’s, hot but not Arizona hot for sure. Visited my sister in Sun City in August once. Thought the gps had directed me to hell.

I appreciate the reminder. I haven't been home for the summer in few years since moving around for the last two years or so. The last time I was in AZ was for a show in January.

You're not the first to say that. XD I have some cousins in Sacramento and San Diego who say the same thing.

I was just kidding, making a joke. When it’s over 100 here people always tell me - it’s a dry heat. I just smile and humor them. AZ heat is the real deal,

Sorry but your coworkers do not know crap at least about tires and Michelin. So do the places that said Toyota doesn't recommend Cooper. Nothing wrong with any tires Costco sells. Some are just made specifically by major manufacturers for Costco but there's nothing wrong with them. Cooper are excellent too. Like others have said if your current tires have good tread left and are not damaged then you should still be good with them. Any light truck or suv tire in your size that Costco sells will be fine. They have good warranty and lots of locations. I personally prefer an actual tire shop and put light truck tires on my Taco. I'm using off road tires not because I off road a lot , I just like the quality and look.

Okay that makes sense. The Dealership told me they'll need replaced in the next three to four months, but I was planning on getting a second option from a mechanic closer to my current home for a second opinion on some mechanical issues anyway.

Word of caution you do need to know before. If you take a southern route (I-20 through Louisiana) while moving ... it is THE WORST road I ever drove! I slowed my U-haul down to 20 MPH much of the way to avoid shaking my possessions on the floor of the truck.

CLARIFICATION: In MS, no memory so probably good-enough. LA ... pure hell. TX ... back to good.

    Welcome to the forum :hattip:

If I was heading cross country I would prefer to have 4 new tires, if you get them from Costco if there is an issue you can warranty it along the way at any store.

Make sure your spare is in good condition and that the winch that lowers it is working without trouble.

You're either talking about Jackson or Shreveport. Neither are the most pleasant places to stop and get gas. 20 at least avoids downtown Dallas/Fair Park district, whereas 30 makes you think you're pulling a 12 foot wide trailer through 7 foot wide lanes. And then there's the Abilene to 10 intersection, which is death by boredom. I can think of a few more scenic ways to go.

Basically as soon as I crossed into LA on I-20 it became hell. I slowed to 20 for almost all of the time in the state ... road surface which is closer to off-roading than interstate. At least it was back in early January of 2021. IMMEDIATELY after I crossed into Texas it was real interstate again.

This^^^. I would not do a cross country trip on tires I thought were iffy or I had concerns about. Just get new tires before you go. Your life rides on and depends on your tires. A while back I went on a couple thousand mile trip around the western US. I didn’t absolutely need them but I got new tires before I left. I felt way better and confident knowing I had new tires.

Not sure if it’s been mentioned but while snow won’t be much of an issue unless you go out exploring…Phoenix is tough on tires because of the intense heat. Heat affects the tire compounds. Some break down quicker than others. Brother in law drives a 4 runner and found that the Michelin’s not only lasted the longest but performed incredibly well off road. Safe travels
