That may be true. I am not discounting the sport or the drivers ability. I'm simply saying all things equal including drivers ability, and out of the box, an offroad will get places a sport can't. I don't think that can be disuputed,..... well on here it can I guess but where the rubber meets the road its its just fact.

Same as when the 2wd guys say, my prerunner has gotten me everywhere the 4wd's go. Fine maybe it has but it wont get you everywhere a 4wd CAN go, its just fact and it can't be disputed.

I can go to some trails with a group of rockbuggies and go everywhere they go, the caveat is that they go places my truck can get through physically but I'm not going to argue my truck could go anyplace the rockbuggies can just because it made the trails they chose that day.

People get offended when you say your truck can not make it. I don't see why its just physics based in part on traction and an offroad because of the locker and atrac, gets better traction than a sport.

Now you can put some money into your sport and make it get better traction than an offroad but someone with an offroad can throw money at it as well.

I'm talking stock vehicles right off the showroom floor which by the way a stock jeep Rubicon will go places a stock offroad can not, again its fact. That doesn't mean an inexperienced drivers on trail A. will get the Rubicon as far as an experienced driver in the sport or offroad but take the same driver and he will get the Rubicon father up the trail.

I would have ordered an OR if they had a long bed Double Cab.

The long bed is more valuable to me than the locker.

I think both are great trucks, and each can handle what a small truck is designed to do.

Now i'm pissed. I had no idea about ATRAC and RL Diff. When buying mine i told the salesperson that i need long bed, it has to be 4x4 and that i want all the driving help system available. They said this TRD i own now has everything and there is nothing "better". Is this ATRAC really that good as i read? Damn i'm going slightly mad.:quickdraw::frusty:

Both the TRD models , Sport and Offroad are a ' step up ' from the SR5 line .

With the exception of the springs they share the same suspension .

    The main differences are :

The Offroad comes with the locker , Atrac , chrome trim , 16" wheels and is only available as a short box in the DC .

The Sport has no locker or Atrac , colour matched trim including the infamous hood scoop, 17" wheels and is available as a short or longbed .

The Offroad does not come as a longbed in a DC , you get the 6' bed in an AC .

Which did you want , AC or DC ?

I wanted DC. BTW i like the hood scoop, actually i love it:yay:
Well if they don't make OFF ROAD with long bed than i have what i wanted because the long bed is a priority for me.

Anyway i still think these salespersons should be educated about all these systems as A-TRAC, LSD etc. because i remember asking them and nobody in the dealership knew anything about it.

I love my TRD Sport and went with it b/c the DC 4x4 options were SR5 or TRD Sport and i need the long bed and the AC cab is too small for adults in the back. And I do alot of hauling so the big bed was a ecessity. One simple MOD the "yellow wire mod w/black tracer" will really help in 4low by enabling the use of TRAC. If Toyota had a OF package with a DCLB I would have chose it, but they don't so too bad for them. I don't feel any less of a person without A-TRAC or the locker. Most customers at my dealership with the OF package don't even go offroad or even know how to use the stuff, sad.

I heard it impedes vision out the back of the truck when offroading , so , I guess that's understandable

I suggest you use the tailgate camera when backing up with the bed extender , and get out and lock in your rear hubs to activate your Atrac .
