I've done too much already today, slept like crap, got up and fed all manner of pets and livestock, and somehow only made it to work 10mins late. And later I need to wrangle a cat that got out.

 

Celebrating 10 years married with the wife today. Though we have been together for 18 years, which is nuts.

Stupid HVAC question for you: I have a window AC that started struggling to provide cool air a week or two ago and now it’s basically barely cool at all.

Any ideas as to why and what I could do to fix it? I’m not averse to getting gauges, a vac pump, and all that to recharge it if that’s the issue. At this point, I can’t hang in my office when it’s like 90 degrees in that bitch

How hot is it been getting put side? Have you cleaner the coils? If its yo hot outside it might just be struggling to keep up with the heat load. Do you notice it works fine on cooler day and struggles on hot? Or does it just not work in general?

If it just doesn’t work in general then yeah sounds like its low if you noticed its been gradually getting warmer over time, typically a sign of a leak.

The amount of money you will spend in tooling to try and fix it will probably exceed the cost of a new one. On top of you dont know where the leaks at. If its in the coil or somewhere thats not fix able without buying parts then you are gunna be into even more money plus they generally dont sell replacement stuff for those kinds of units.
