Hi all. The past couple months I’ve noticed it takes more force to change gears after city driving, ie lots of stopping + starting, using low gears, turning the engine off and back on to get to the next stop/store. It’s not really been a problem, so much so that I though maybe it was just a quirk, but yesterday I had to use both hands just to get it into first so I could get off the main road and park it for a bit, which has never happened. After sitting for an hour or so it shifted fine and was back to normal, as has always been the case in the past. But clearly the problem’s gotten worse.
Its got about 170k miles, and theoretically the guy I bought it from replaced the clutch at 140k or so. If that’s true, seems quick, but I have been driving it for 5 years and I did learn to drive standard on it.
I could only find one other thread with a situational shifting problem (as opposed to constant hard shifting), but regardless it seems I should start with the transmission fluid, and check the shifter bushing? Anyone experienced a similar problem/situation and have some insight? Thanks a million for reading, I don’t do short and sweet

    I will say
Just because I had unknown mileage on a Subaru 6spd of mine, I changed gear fluid
    Amazing difference
    Ease of shifting noticeable

    try that 1st
    If no change
    Shifter linkage badass idea next

Only in 1st? Issues other gears?

Rebuilding seats with leather from furniture and extra padding. Might put leather on the dash and other interior parts.
    Maybe check shifter bushings.

Mostly changing between gears 1-3, or neutral into first. Can’t say it’s ever done it w/ 4 and 5

    No noise that I recall.
After a quick search the “F” in R150F denotes 4wd right? I’m guessing it’s not then but is there somewhere on the truck I could check to confirm?

    LOL
i am not at all sure what the F means!?
let me look on the Yota1 website for the different types of transmissions, maybe there is a plain R150 with no F
afaik the R150F works with the V6 5VZFE

I got the impression r150f was 4wd and r150 was 2wd but if you can’t tell I’m winging it Lol.
This is the placard on the door- even searching the codes after TR and TM on the bottom right corner, I can’t figure out which transmission it is

When you do the bushings, there is a small port in the side of the shifter socket. Poke a wire through it to clear out the debris from the old dilapidated bushing. If the port is clogged, it will leak transmission oil from the socket with the new bushing there. I found that out last week.

there might be a variant for the W59 that has the proper attachments for the transfer case on 4WD
perhaps that is what the A01A/ indicates ?

The “A01A” is the axle code, apparently. Still feels like another language to me, but the first post on this thread was interesting- https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/oem-gear-ratio-chart.365138/
