I bet you've driven over this bridge before.
It's on Old Forge Road not far from you, spanning Antietam Creek.
One lane bridge, of course.

There are a fair few old 19th century stone bridges still in use in this part of the country.






You Civil War History Buffs will recognize the name.
The Battle of Antietam was fought downstream from here.

I got the Hay's Stone Arch Bridge right across from the house here. Right near the Witherspoon covered bridge. Lots of old shit around here.

 

I've probably been there . . .
My dad was a Civil War buff - he dragged my brother + i all over N VA, SE Penn and I don't remember where else but Antietam was on that list; so was Gettysburg and lots of other places. Kids love going to Civil War battle sites - nothing beats driving 2hr to get out and look at a pasture and an old ass stone fence; i would try to imagine bodies and blood everywhere but it was still boring AF!! Shoulda left me with my grandparents so I could muck stalls or some shit..

I would have loved to see that when I was there… pretty country. I like it a bit more south, but not a bad place to settle. I just hated the politics… and that was back in the 80s!
