BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
I’m so slow it’s pathetic. I’m driving down the street and a nice silver Buick century sidles up and passes. I see a steering wheel and a little puff of permed grey hair in front of and slightly lower than the driver side head rest. Wow! She’s got to be 103 years old. As she passes I’m thinking how wonderful life is when a tiny frail hand emerges from between the head rests with its middle finger sticking up. It was then, then that I knew I loved this fn piece of shit truck. How many people can say they were hated by one of the oldest creatures on the planet. Every time I twist the ignition key, adventure awaits!

One time like two days before 9/11 (I believe in 2021), I had an American flag on a pole mounted to my hitch receiver. A little old lady walking on the side of the road with a much younger guy flipped me off; I turned around, stopped the truck, and asked her why she flipped me off. She denied doing so, and I just left, but when I reviewed the dashcam footage later on it was pretty damn obvious she had flipped me off…

And don’t even get me started about the drunk redneck at the Carlisle Truck Nationals in August 2021 who called me a “fucking commie” and went on a racist rant against the Japanese because I have an American flag license plate the front of a Toyota truck!

    @Steves104x4

Here is the original post of the Carlisle incident, with a picture of the flag plate that I still have on my truck...

I caught the whole thing on my dashcam and posted the footage on YouTube... :D

This was a fairly young guy, but all of this anti-Japanese rhetoric is passed down from generation to generation, and he likely got it from a relative who grew up during or even served in WW2. My step-grandpa served in the Pacific Theater during WW2 as a Navy Frogman, so he fought the Japanese, and until the day he died he thought that Toyotas were great cars. Hell, my grandmother owned a Lexus that he drove on numerous occasions.

The Japanese build a superior truck (just ask @ABA180 about the Chevy Colorado that he owned prior to his Tacoma, and what had to be replaced at 70K miles), and I cannot wait until the generation that thinks it is somehow more patriotic to buy an inferior American vehicle dies off. Don't get me wrong, I love American trucks, but I like the older ones better.

My friend Dave has a truck similar to that one, though it's not it quite as good condition. It is a 1974 Ford F100 that he bought probably 20 years ago for like $200 and fixed for his auto shop project in high school. It needed a new engine, but it had a clean title, so he bought it. It is a regular cab short bed, originally grabber green. It was blue when he bought it, and now it is matte black. It is fairly oddly-optioned, with the 302cid V8, C4 3-speed automatic, front disc brakes (drums were still standard then), an AM/FM radio. It does not have power steering or power brakes. The truck had aftermarket A/C when my friend bought it, but it didn't work, so my friend just ripped it out. I drove it once back in 2009, and it was a chore!

The frame on the truck is solid, but the bed rotted out so my friend put on a flatbed. The cab also has significant rust issues, so my friend bought a new cab for it. My lives in a rural area and has a ton of property, he used to be a mechanic and can basically build himself a truck, and he makes a metric shit-ton of money driving an 18-wheeler. He is very attached to this truck, and it still runs and drives, so he is restoring it. His daily is a 2013 Ford Explorer, and he also has a 2004 Lincoln Town Car and two other Ford trucks. Those other two trucks are a 1985 Ford F250 and a 1989 Ford F250, both of which are in running condition, street legal, and antique-plated.

One tried that here many years ago when I wasn't home. My wife told him he better be gone by the time she got back with her gun. He left pretty quickly.

I am very much in favor of the second amendment and gun rights, but I wouldn't have threatened to get a gun unless I felt my life was in danger. Was he threatening your wife, making her feel unsafe, or being pushy?

That changes things even more, as the castle doctrine was much more lenient back then!

Has to be, nobody writes a 10 yr.

Never even pondered the thought of a title loan but I have to figure it's not a wise idea unless you have no choice.

I wish religious folk would come to my house. I'd answer the door and be polite, but at some point I'd make sure to casually roll up my right sleeve like I'm scratching my arm and watch them shriek and run

That's messed. I remember the story. Sounds like if it was truly a group home they should have been supervising her better.

My wife worked in homes for 38 yrs and you would never know to drive by any of them that's what was happening.

If I've asked before I can't recall, what foggies are you running. Thinking about upgrading mine. I have the knockoff OEM style that still work but the lenses are getting dull. Gonna try some restoration but they were never that bright and I don't want to throw LED bulbs in them.

That is hilarious. Though I gotta say props if she can still drive well.

    You should link that.

Yup, that shitbox. Wasn't that it busted but that GM told me to fuck off in the face of their 2 written warranties. The top end going at 70K that is, though I don't think it should have needed U joints at about 30K..nor about 5 or so of the cam solenoids replaced. I know there was more.

Anyone walks in my house like that, uniform or not, I am going to see as an issue as well and do what I must.

Yeah I'm up late, just got home from a Funspot run in Laconia NH
