Make sure you have spark. The coils could have corroded internally and are no good anymore. Usually you can get them to pop off with a sniff of ether, or the such if you got spark.

Water buildup in the muffler? Try pulling the spark arrester.

Got a 250 farm boss & a 291 Stihl.... Love these saws... They are workhorses!

But if you got that 036pro for a good price? SCORE!!!

Now about that Osburn stove: is that an insert still?

This Kioti I worked on back in January , buddy messaged me this morning and said it wouldn't start so he brought it by work this morning after he winched it on his trailer.

    upload_2024-8-19_10-35-26.jpg

I tested the battery, jumped the starter with a screwdriver (won't engage without going through the solenoid, UGH), everything worked (dash lights, etc) I checked the wire going to the starter solenoid and it didn't have any power. Kept messing around and got it to crank.

From what I figured out and read about it could be one of 3 things.... ignition switch (doubtful), clutch safety switch (possible), or the starter relay (I'd put $3 on this being the culprit since everything works but the solenoid wasn't being fed).

He said he's going to order a new relay. I told him it may not crank next time he tries it or it may start for the next 1,000 tries.

    Just a note for ya.....

Mine wouldn't start a couple weeks back. Same type of symptoms you say.

Tried charging it, jumping it, skipping battery altogether from another vehicle... Thought oh man got a bad wire somewhere.. NOPE.

It was just the battery had went bad. Stuck a new Optima redtop in it & its fine.

Over my head, but the Kioti repair guy told me it was something to do with improper voltage & the computer wouldn't let it start. New battery & ends is all it took to fix it.

Battery was a 2018 interstate, so guess it lived its lifespan.

Yes. Dumped the fuel in both.
removed the mufflers and inspected spark arrestors both were fine couldn’t get the one back in the small saw. Pitched it.
Got the small one MS181C to run finally. It is one of those with the “easy start” deal. Wasn’t so easy but she’s good now.

The MS291 still isn’t starting. Sad… that only has 30 mins of run time since new. maybe I’ll get some starting fluid and spray at the carb jets?? Good idea? Or just pull the plug and squirt some regular gas in there? Or should it be mixed gas?
    thanks for all the help!

    Mixed! No straight gas.

It will start just fine using premix as a helping fuel.

Thanks! I didn't add any fuel after all...I was able to get the big one cranked by pulling many, many, many times on 1/2 choke setting. It brought her back to life after a few minutes of clearing her throat. Now she roars like a lion!
So thankful for the help here from you all. I have been around a few forums of different interests and I must say, THIS TacomaWorld forum is the absolute best! So many kind people and so many interests.

Anything to know about a Honda GX690 engine? My boss agreed to sell me the power house prowler dingo for $2000. It was running but now it isn’t. Coworker doesn’t know if it ran out of gas or just needs a jump. Includes a bucket, pallet forks, trencher and a crappy 5x10 trailer. Going to hopefully pick it up Friday after work, just need to make sure I can get it running.

Start simple, check the gas and battery. If it was running but now it isn't, it's more than likely one of those 2 things.

If you enjoy chainsaws, you might like Buckin Billy Ray's channel. This one vid is about a huge McCulloch 125.
BBR is a bit wordy, but he seems to be a good dude.

That saw reminds me of the McCulloch MAC 10 10 my dad had from since I can remember until I was a teenager. You could hear it from a mile away.

I remember him running it one day and he was in a cut with it and it suddenly stopped. Locked up tight.

I ask him was he going to tear it apart and fix it, he said "nah, that saw don't owe me anything". I don't know if he still has it or chunked it.

    Looked like this one.

Nice score, Charlie! You stole that unit!

Those engines a very robust. It will be something simple.

Looking forward to some more pics when you get it home.

Hopefully it's still on its trailer. These things suck to move if they can't be started.

Do I NEED them, not really but HydrosPlus just came out with the flat face 1/2” couplers for the 3/4 series JD. Ordered a set of the standard along with the male ends for the snowblower. If it keeps a few tsb in the lines each disconnect, it’s a win and not having to relieve pressure when attaching, I’m happy.

I have flat face on my skidsteer/grapple bucket. They are cleaner but sometimes a bear to get hooked up. Not sure why. I always cut the machine off and relieve the pressure so it's got to be pressure from the bucket side (heat from the sun I'm assuming). I've even tried connecting them together on the bucket when I unhook it, no help.
