AIRMASS CHANGE: A highly amplified upper air pattern over the U.S. will help to push much drier air into the Deep South today. This means dry weather for most of the week with lower humidity and cooler nights. For the northern third of the state, highs will be in the mid to upper 80s through the week, with lows well down in the 60s. Many communities will dip into the 50s early Wednesday morning for a nice preview of fall.

For the southern counties, highs will be in the low 90s, but the lower humidity levels will make the summer heat feel more comfortable. Lows there will be in the 60s by mid-week. A few isolated showers are possible over far South Alabama Thursday and Friday, but many places will stay rain-free.

Not much change over the weekend. Generally dry weather for the state with only isolated showers across the southern counties. Highs will be mostly in the low 90s Saturday and Sunday.

NEXT WEEK: Heat levels rise, and afternoon temperatures go back in the mid 90s next week (August 26-30). And, the pattern continues to look dry with only isolated showers… See the video briefing for maps, graphics, and more details.

TROPICS: Ernesto is hanging in there this morning… still a hurricane with winds of 85 mph. The center is about 340 miles south/southeast of Halifax, Nova Scotia, and is moving north/northeast at 21 mph. The system becomes post tropical soon over the colder water of the North Atlantic.

The rest of the Atlantic basin remains remarkably quiet for August.

ON THIS DATE IN 1896: The famous Cottage City (Oak Bluffs) waterspout occurred off Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts. The vortex was 3,600 feet high, formed three times, and was well photographed.

ON THIS DATE IN 1955: The remnants of Hurricane Diane continued to drop phenomenal amounts of rain on parts of the eastern U.S., leading to deadly and catastrophic flooding. In Pennsylvania, floods left thousands homeless. The flooded Brodhead Creek killed 37 people at a camp; tragically, most of them were children.

ON THIS DATE IN 1969: After blasting the Gulf Coast, the remnants of Hurricane Camille unleashed a monstrous cloudburst over Virginia, which brought massive flooding and mudslides that killed more than 150 people.

Just a heads up for my Bama peeps. We're going to sell our 1st gen Tepui Autana with annex. This was made by Tepui before they sold out to Thule. We're going a different route with the FJ and looking at a Sherpa rack and roofnest falcon evo 3 with "awnex". This will be way easier for me to setup since the FJ is so tall.

We thought so. I'll also have to remove the current lightbar and mounts since they won't work with the Sherpa

Just heads up no punn intended lol. Clam shells can be a real PITA with head room. Since one side is a wedge. Personally i would get something like this to get a little more usable space out of it. Thats main reason i went with full pop up camper vs wedge. Ppl complain about hitting their head and foot room in wedges. Not trying to discourage you just making you aware.

I looked at those and like them but I like the design of the falcon evo 3 and definitely the awnex setup. The falcon 3 evo opens up to a steeper angle to allow more headroom. I'm trying to go with the least amount of weight as well as what would provide the least amount of drag and at 3 inches tall on the edges with the thickest part of the shell at 8", I was sold. Does somebody have a wind tunnel so we can test these various designs out? lol!

I don’t know. I was thinking more for using the extra time to see if this is the job for you by looking around at different jobs. ( not that you haven’t been). If it’s the right position for you, then just having more time to be deadly for whatever questions they ask.
I haven’t had a job interview in 30 years. I have interviewed a few people. I generally ask basic questions and watch their actions and listen to how they answer. Body language can tell a lot.
