    Hello,

I've read a lot about lifts on here but it's got my head spinning. I have a 18 DCLB OR that I want to do a small 1.5-2"F and 2"R max lift on. Keep the rake.

Looking at 5100s w/stock coils and RXT leaf on stage1 in rear. This will see 99.9% street driving. Just FYI wheels and tires are HASE Spec II 17x8.5 -6 with 265/75/17 and will remain that way. ECGS will be installed

    1) will 5100s work for the REAR or do I need a longer shock?
    2) will this size lift require a longer brake line?
    3) carrier bearing spacer, axle shims or diff drops required at this height? I don't see anyone doing these watching install videos.

    Thanks,
    Jeremy

    5100s will work.
Keep it under 2" and you shouldn't "need" to do any of the others.
If driveline vibes appear then shims or cb spacer might remedy it.

Longer rear shocks are not needed, but you can install some if you want more droop and overall travel. If you go with longer shocks, you might need extended bump stops and/or extended brake lines, but it depends on the exact specs of the shocks. Bilstein 5100 shocks are OEM replacement shocks and as long as you got the 3rd gen Tacoma version, you don’t have to worry about anything.

You are not changing the extended length of the shocks (if at all) enough to require extended brake lines. The wheels will droop approximately the same distance as stock.

A diff drop is not needed.

ECGS bearing probably isn’t needed. I’d just wait and see if you have an issue in the future. I don’t have one and all is fine after 25k miles. I suspect the need for it is mostly urban legend or it’s only a problem for people that lift their front suspension too much.

A carrier bearing spacer might be needed. I have one because it came with the kit I bought from @HeadStrong Off-Road.

I did similar mild lift. I put OME 885 coils and 1-inch blocks under the leafs. I added the diff drop kit, which is just a half-inch, or so, spacer to drop the center bearing. I got the longer rear shocks because I off-road and have air bags that can raise the rear up to 3 inches more. Up front I have 5100’s set on lowest setting.

I initially installed the 5100’s with the oem springs and had the 5100’s on highest setting. That gave me about 2.5” lift up front. Once I felt the oem coils were too springy, at about 120K, I installed the OME’s and the height now sits about 2” over oem.

Never experienced any vibration issues and only recently, around 200K, I replaced the driver side axle needle bearing with the ECGS bushing. I felt no vibrations but the CV had excessive play. Honestly, I should have just replaced the bearing with another needle bearing. They are half the price and I will have another truck within a couple years.

My truck has had a 2” lift on it since 27 miles to now over 50k on it. Never had any of these done and is fine. Honestly wasn’t even aware of this ECGS bearing thing till recently. So I second this. 5100’s, block or AAL and be done for this amount of lift.

Thanks for all the responses! Looks like I'll be placing my order. Can't wait to get it done.

If you want to keep it simple, juts lift the Bilstein 5100's up 1" on the front and don't even touch the rear. It's as close to stock that you can get without changing out a bunch of stuff. You will lose the factory rake, but the nice thing about lifting is getting rid of the factory brake dive.

This is exactly what my buddy did. I think the front may be on the 1.3” setting and the back is not lifted. 16x8 0 offset 265/75/16 Toyo’s.
