The best truck is a paid off truck.

There's a lot of aspects of the new Tacoma I like, however, It's a bummer that you can't get the highest trim and engine options with a manual. Yes, the OR/Sport puts out on par numbers with the 3rd gen but it would be a shame to knowing there's more out there. Similar to how the Bronco only has the manual with the lower trim and engine configurations. The 4th gens seem to be going through issues and my pre-covid pro runs flawlessly. Not interested in expending a lot of money going through the growing pains with Toyota on a new truck when mine is paid off and ready for adventures.

I can't stand the interior of the new one, not sure why even thou I like all the new switches it just rubs me wrong, especially the weird grab handle.

My Tacoma is a truck, not a limousine. Giant screens playing movies while I should be driving (that will come, soon enough) instead of investing in torque for truck-stuff and suspensions for more truck-stuff is not what I want.

I don't mind a nice large screen as I use it for maps and such, but with my 3rd gen + CarPlay the GPS reception is rubbish so it's useless for saving accurate tracks.

I concur on the body style. The 'spoiler' that overhangs the cab kills it for me. And I like my 2021 Access Cab that actually has a door for ease
of entry/exit... or to access these back of the cab.

Not sure if I could do-this with the 2024 version...

By overloading a small engine with enormous amount of power. Extra strain on the crankshaft, rods, pistons, basically everything rotating compared to a v6. The 4 cylinder will have a hard time keeping up with the v6 on performance and longevity. I don’t need to explain that though, it can be shown in the real world.

I'd say third gen is better for me. only $640 to go on my loan and I will have the tittle.

"Payoff" ... few things in life feel better than "no car payments". Yes, there are many things better (wife, fishing, doggo, etc) but that does not diminish the "payoff".

people should not be buying any mid size truck if they are towing more than a lawn mowing service or mini camper

No wife, no kids, no dog yet, but there are plenty of things to do still in life. There's hiking, camping, kayaking cycling and so much adventure out there even close by home too but my one goal is to make it to the national parks in Utah. A paid off Tacoma would be a good for that Journey.

My Corolla was paid off years ago. I bought the Tacoma to drive off-road, and off-road is the reason I moved to AZ ... else I would have driven the Corolla until it died, most likely.

It's nice not having one. My last vehicle before the Tacoma was a Jeep I got pre owned with a 5 year loan. Owned it 12 years. So 7 with no payments and I saved up the last few of those to be able to put 14,000 down on this and have a low payment and I'm about to be paid off in just over 4 years this time.
