money can't buy happiness but it can make misery less uncomfortable

 

Ouch, one thing I'm really pleased about with my new job is the vacation, it accrues fast and if I don't have enough days they don't give a crap if I take a few unpaid ones, and frankly neither do I, I make so much more now and am paid more than once a month that it isn't as much of a concern.

 

Meh, I can just be lazy, and get paid out the PTO at the end... All 8hrs I have

I had three weeks off but would use them in in 3 single week chunks through the year. I'll have 4 weeks a year at the new job. Probably build up and keep a week of PTO on hand for sick time. I think my old job has a better plan with that, 80hrs of sick time every year. Don't have that at the new place.

When I first announced I was leaving I had one of the production leaders ask what I was going to do at the new job. "Pretty much the same thing I do now" to which he replied "so.... Nothing?"

I'm glad they just give us our full 160 hours of PTO January 1st every year

 

@eon_blue you were talking about the season changing earlier? First chance of snow at the higher elevations Friday.

 

I can't complain I'm entirely unsupervised and the person who approves my leave I haven't seen in like 2.5 months anyway. Get a whole bunch of sick time too

The union just tells us “we pay you guys enough you should be able to save money to take days off”

 

We just quadrupled in size, so time off probably doesn't look very good for a minute

 

What does that even mean? Are you one of those weirdos that lets their vacation lapse and the money disappears. I've always thought people that don't use their vacation time should be on some sort of watch list.

 

You know how people like you and I have hobbies, like to travel, do adventures and work is a way to accomplish those? Some people's home lives are sooo fucking miserable that being at work is a vacation from it so they actually like to be at work. What a way to spend your years....
