Goddamn I am so jealous of those trails.

That creek bed looks like tons of fun. Bet that one was exhausting.

My son, 30 at the time, had his left temporal bone crushed - coma for six days. 3 months inthe hospital. 2 years in therapy to learn to use his body again.

    And diagnosed with a TBI.

That shit is no joke. He presents as a completely different personality than he did before the incident. His core values etc, same. But the outer expression of himself...whole new world. At 30.

Heart goes out to that kid and his family.

    in case you're curious...

On the theme of going down, took a spill in the dirt this weekend by defaulting to the wrong reflexes (MTB). Need to work on this, as I do it when often with small hops and front end lifting also.

Was exiting a dead end FSR branch with some muddy sections and ended up on the wrong side of a rut that lead straight through some mud. Quick thinking got the brakes applied to shed speed down to ~35 kph / 20 mph but then moved on to trying to ride around the edge of the rut (MTB default #1). Street tires slipped right in as you'd expect and twisted up the steering. Tried to catch it on the first foot down (MTB default #2) but quickly realized that was a no go so dropped it and slid it out on my knees. Relatively damage free - gouging in the LH plastics, broke the mirror loose and a bend you can't even visually see on the clutch lever. All that fear of getting dirty was laughable as I got to ride through a rain storm on the way home, oh well.

Ha I had to break street instincts to be able to ride in the dirt better. Had a lot of form to change.

Funny part is I am so used to riding aggressive in the woods now that things that would absolutely SURGE adrenaline through my body is not there anymore. Was riding out to one of my spots and looked away from the car that was in front of me for a second and when I looked back it was stopped maybe 15-20 feet in front of me. I grabbed both brakes and skidded past it to the left (into oncoming traffic no less because there was another major road to the right and that was the safer option) and when I came to a stop safely my brain was just like you idiot you should have seen that. But no shakes, adrenaline surges or anything. Just downshifted and kept going on my way.

It's wild how over time you feel so complacent with something you're used to doing as routine, and only when something happens or someone points it out is it noticeable again.

Un-bike-related - was snowboarding with a good friend and took our wives up to a powder bowl area we frequent, to have them get used to falling and not getting hurt with small terrain features. At our usual drop in point, they both pointed out how steep and sketchy the entry really was. It took a second, but we then came to realize it was true given their level.

Well shit I want to go look at that 2008 zx10 but I know I shouldn’t. Although this year Zx10r is very light at 390lbs dry so just about 425 wet. That’s about the same weight of most 600s and 750s but will a shit ton more power. Do I need that much power? NO! Do I want that much power? NO! Does it seem like a great deal on a 1000cc? YES!
Let’s say I got the bike for $5500 that leaves me with close to 3k from what the GSXR was. I could mod the shit out of it and be at the same price as a 750 and with more power.
Talk me in or out of it please!!

It basically bt's off your phone. It's not a dedicated GPS. I think it will even play music/calls through comms if you have them. I don't, so no experience there. I do know it'll display texts.

Handy, will give it some consideration for the winter mod list. Will stick with the stop and pull out the phone like a peasant method for now.

I've never run a phone on the bars. Plus, I have a Samsung flip right now and it doesn't hold for shit in mounts. For $200....this was a decent gamble for me.

Same here, keep it in my pocket. Thought I saw someone here mention that they ended up losing the camera on their phone due to direct mount and vibrations. Have all my old phones I could use as well though if I decided to bar mount something.

I've read about the vibes. I've also seen the quadlock type mounts and they seem to get a pretty good review. For now, I'm happy with that Carpuride. It'll cover my needs.

It's a god awful ugly bike, the "worst" 1000 of that generation of bikes. Cbr1000rr would be a better choice if you wanted a 160hp literbike instead of the 200+HP versions they have now. Maybe an S1000RR. Or an 848
