Sorry for your issues brother, but not every Toyota lasts for 300K trouble free miles. . My 07 FJ Cruiser with 200K miles is rock solid without a single leak anywhere. Your choices are fix it or move on.

Anyone else wondering if he was pulling a trailer and found a rod knocking? :|

Stinks man. Just don't park next to mine. I don't want it to have any ideas.

Ditched my 3rd gen at low mileage and never looked back. Had all kinds of small issues. Now drive a 2001 Land Cruiser with over 200k miles. It's a much better built truck. If I got another Tacoma, would be a 1st or 2nd gen.

I don’t know why we all like these trucks so much they are kinda like an addiction it’s hard to get the Tacoma off your back. With all the known issues with the 3.5 it’s ridiculous but some seem to be fine it’s just a hit or miss situation.

I love my Tacoma but it will probably be my last one especially if it starts leaking oil or water and has the cylinder head issue. I can deal with most everything else. The 3.5 is not the best engine Toyota has ever built.

You only oil treated twice.. In 8 years.... and you're starting to see rust? I'm shocked

I have a gen 1 2004 and it currently has 260K worry free miles just regular maintenance. The build quality blows my 2023 away.

I had this stuff already on my shelf for our Mazda PS:

    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00GKGCP5G

Used it to top off the Taco, which had moist rack boots. They dried out. All that I possibly have is that it might have helped condition the seals. Did that back in late 2019 and only added a splash since.

Purchased in Canada according to his other thread posts.
I once saw some signs of old oil in the engine bay when I was much lower in mileage on the truck. The next oil change, I thought about cleaning it up and seeing if it'd come back/if I could locate the leak. That oil change, I quickly found out one of the tabs had broken off of my plastic oil filter canister, leaving a small pinhole that about 2 quarts of oil shot out of allllll over the engine bay before I could even turn the truck off when doing my 'after-oil-change leak check'.

Good news that came from the event, I know I have incredible oil pressure - I mean it really shot oil everywhere in a matter of seconds, through a considerably small hole. I also never cleaned the engine bay up, and my worries of an oil leak are pretty much non-existent anymore, because theres already oil everywhere, and who's to say if there was a leak, or just leftover residue from that event? :notsure: As long as its got oil, I'm gonna drive it til it don't drive no more. Never had any oil spots in the driveway, so if it even does leak, it must not leak bad enough for me to care
