Yeah, dealer is still covering a rental. They just send me checks to reimburse. So no issues on that side, thankfully

Make sure the dealer knows to keep your windows up all the way while it sits in storage waiting for parts. Don’t ask me how I know!

    **Update**

Dealer let me know today that the ETA got pushed back to Sept. 5th for the delivery. Starting to lose my patience with it, reaching out to all the contacts I have to get it resolved ASAP. Will update with any other news.

I’d be throwing the lemon word around and see if that motivates either Toyota or the dealer. You’ve been patient.

No need. Once it ticks over 30 days it’s fully in his favor. Toyota is legally obligated to buy it back and they will know it. “Rushing” it doesn’t work

Not telling him to rush it and aware. Just the buzz word maybe lighting a fire under their a** doubtful though.

For the love of tacoma. I am in the Tacoma transmission failure group. You beat me on ur mileage. Mileage was 1564. I pulled out on the highway and it wouldn’t accelerate. The dealership, gave me a loaner which has been kind. They paid for a tow company to pick it up, after the Toyota care said someone wld be there to grab it in 90 minutes. 9 hours of waiting no tow came and got it. Received a text stating order complete. They actually canceled and didn’t call me.

I have no timelines of parts or even if I want a new transmission. Maybe see if I can get it extended warranty. I literally pulled out into traffic, and it wouldn’t accelerate do I trust it?!? I am disappointed!!!

I at least limped it home, unlike your situation. I am happy you’re all safe and sorry for the disappointment. I would love to know the process and time frame.
Thank you for sharing your journey.

smidgelet when was your truck made? also if OP gets his truck fixed and its only been a month i think hes doing good, at least compared to GM. look up the new 24 traverse blazer transmission problems. alot of those people are waiting at least a month for parts . and gm is having us just replace only the part inside the transmission that is broke not the entire transmission.

Yeah...no...if I buy something new and it breaks that quickly and you take over 30 days to fix it, your gonna buy it back and I'm moving on...life is too short for that nonsense.

HOLY SMOKES! I don’t know if I should laugh or cry. Just received a text from my husband

Text:::The Toyota guy called me. Needs a new transmission and transmission sensor. Both parts are back ordered along with 112 other ones. Maybe six months at best before we get it back

i did text back more like 112,000 other ones. I appreciate all suggestions!!!! Thoughts?!? I guess what next vehicle? I loved my 2018 tacoma, it’s already sold.
A car is not going to work with my work commute and snow.

Husband wants me in a ford f150
    Or jeep.
    I am soooo disappointed!

A couple of things to point point out...

Over 30 days wait then start buy back or lemon law process.

112 waiting....even if it is 300...300 out of 90k sold is .003% and and should be statically acceptable for a failure rate.

Toyota will take care of you.

F150 or a Jeep....please research those and the recalls associated with them.

You can't use the dealer saying 112 parts on back order as solid data on the failure rate lol.

that is why I tripled it. Even if it was 1000 we are still looking at about 1% in which case a stop sale would surely be put in place.

    What state are you in?

Regarding the husband wanting a Ford or Jeep, you might look into a new husband. :D

Unless it's a safety concern, Toyota doesn't have to issue a stop sale. Last stop sale Toyota issued was for air bags that could potentially go off for no reason.

While a broken transmission can leave you stranded, it's not considered a safety issue.

You all are amazing. Ha ha. I love toyotas just having this 2024 makes me mad. I get not a so called safety issue, but when I pulled out into traffic, and cldnt accelerate and had to get it to the shoulder of the highway did not make me feel the most safe. Ha ha. Now with the northern Wisconsin/Minnesota weather coming, I need something for my commute.

i am not a fan of Ford (no offense-folks), but I do like Jeeps but one f’ing rubber duck on it might set me over the edge. Ha ha ha .

Thank you all! Keep the responses and thought flowing. Thank you!!!
