Yeah the second ep of this one they talk about the McDonnel Douglas merger, I thought it was the other way around though that Boeing bought them because they were in dire straights and they wanted McD's military contracts. But yeah I guess McDonnel Douglas' CEO strong-armed the deal and maintained enough control of the company to shift it's priorities and put short term profit margins over long term stability and safety concerns.

It's a pretty wild story for sure, sad that it took major loss of life and a blatant lack of responsibility to bring light to the issue

It's not fun to cut up either to try and make fit in recycle bins

They went to shit for sure. You would think in a tourist town like South Lake they would thrive being open all night. Nope they closed this summer. IHOP is not far behind them.

    Nice!

They left the 95.5 to 97 leaf pack alone right?

I'm only aware of the 98+ where the part number changed to some EL variant and changed up the leaf pack I think?

Yeah the 95.5-97 pack is actually the 84-95 pickup pack too so they aren't about to touch that

The book goes in to depth on it. It's why I have a disdain for companies spending profits on stock buy backs. Boeing is a trash company, one I used to adore but after understanding how they operate and who they prioritize, it's no wonder they are in the state that they are. Profit for the top, no fucks for anything else. It worked for MD, I'm sure it'll work for Boeing

Yeah these are the 95-97 specific, shorter leafs.
That OME pack is made for the 84-95 pickup, but have the same leaf length. Pretty much the only bolt on option, otherwise its the chevy 63s or EL pack which both require relocating mounts

Edit: looks like speedy was too speedy and beat me

Oooh no shit; is that why I read about the common complaint about "too high" of a lift for Tacoma models?

Goes to show I don't know shit about pre 98 Taco's, they do look good though

The 91-95 pickup stock packs actually lift our trucks too, the spring hanger placement is different frame wise and it's why the CS019R lift so radically

I've had two sets of CS019R, they're goo leafs but they're not exactly ideal for the Tacoma, it's the reason I didn't do them on this truck

Yeah I didn't know they were originally for the Pick Up

I just remember seeing a bunch of new threads in the 1st Gen section what, 2 years ago since they changed from the CS variant to EL.

Think they added another leaf, not as an add-a-leaf but just more in general to their pack for 98 - 04. I had the old variant.

There's an IFS steering box from Yota Masters that's tapped and ready for hydro in Grand Junction; save $200 off list price (on FB) :boink:

Huh, I've read so much about these leafs and just never considered that the leafs are the same and stock pickup ones would work.
Do you know what kind of lift you get out of them?

Yeah Boeing definitely flipped the bird to all its engineers after the merger and change in focus. Basically treated them like a thorn in corporate's side rather than the primary company assets that they were. They mention that Boeing actually moved its corporate HQ from Seattle to Chicago just to get the execs away from the engineers so they couldn't complain as easily about the cost/safety cutting measures. WTF

I think it's like 2.5-3", same weight handling as stock tacoma leafs. Tacoma leafs don't have much arch at all so the ride smooth as a flat leaf rides smoothest, but pickups had some arch to begin with.
