I already have a full deck trailer, it weighs 600 pounds more than this one.

600 pounds with the old F 250 was insignificant - with the Tacoma it helps quite bit.

The time of reveal is upon us, this is what I bought a new trailer & drove 1181 miles (one way) to buy:

1965 LTD with: no engine, no transmission, no title  ...

    A solid frame

I drove to Kansas City, Missouri to get it.

Having that open middle has lots of advantages.

Lose a hub/wheel/tire and it's easy to chain up the bad wheel with a section of 2x4 and limp on to the next exit on 3 tires.

Lose a u joint: swap vehicles and pull the shaft and make needed repairs with a lot more ease.

Project vehicle needs a pressure washing?: wash it from under the trailer.

Dedicated car haulers should have an open middle. You can access brakes or driveshafts to assist with loading or removal of vehicle.

Granted, a closed middle will make that trailer useful for lots of other hauling chores, but for vehicles, hauling, that middle open sure makes it much more easy to deal with dead vehicles.

The fellow and his family were very nice, they helped me get the car on the trailer.

He said "you can't leave without some authentic Kansas City BBQ" and handed me a huge bag. What a feast & lunch tomorrow too! :):)

    Great people!

    Agree.

The open trailer is kind of a one trick pony compared the the jack of all trades full deck.

Along with the extra 600 pounds the Tacoma doesn't need to be hauling my full deck hasn't moved in several years - no way was I going to try to take it 2500 miles in 3-4 days. :boom:
