Long time creeper, first time posting. Usually my problems are solved by someone else already so i scan the threads. I'm at a loss trying to figure out what is going on with my 2nd gen, but you guys always have an answer. I use TW for everything and have had great luck but this has me stumped. My 2011 sport has the airbag light on constantly since I bought it. It was a salvage.

I've had the SRS module re flashed, the seatbelt re built, and the previous owner replaced the steering wheel.

Checked under the seats to make sure the SRS plugs are attached after seat covers.

Scanned twice with a Snap On code reader and no codes are present.

Suspecting the clock spring, but everything on the wheel works. Volume, channels, horn and cruise.

    What am I missing?

About to break down and go to the dealership at $209 to diagnose.

I'm assuming the scanner can communicate with the SRS?

Have you tried doing the flash code procedure to see if you get any codes?

I haven't tried that yet. Didn't like the idea of jamming wires into my OBD, but I may have to give it a shot. I've read about it.

You don't want to jam anything into a female terminal, always use something that is the same size or smaller than the male pin.

A very small paperclip works well.

Just tried to read it using a paperclip. There didn't seem to be a code, just consistent flashing of the SRS among other things. I made a video, but I'm not sure how to upload it?

Interesting, not sure why the light would be on with no codes.
Videos have to be upladed to a video sharing site and then post the link here.

Just double checked. It just flashes on and off consistently. Does that mean there is no code to be read?

Bummer, I hate having to take it to the stealership to diagnose. Hope they don't tell me the same thing. I can't finish getting the truck registered with the SRS light on. Was hoping there was something I've overlooked. Thanks for the help!

Looks like low voltage to the module can cause the light to stay on with no codes.

There's 2 different test procedures depending on the build date of the truck.

"If the continuous illumination is caused by problems such as malfunctions in the SRS warning light circuit or a decreased source voltage in the center airbag sensor assembly, no DTCs are set."

SRS light on but no codes has 100% for me always been the SRS ECU.

Usually its after its deployed an airbag.

Worst part is, there may be other faults.

The SRS ECU has been re flashed. But I've wondered if that could be the problem if it was done incorrectly. Im not sure what exactly goes into the re flash other than plugging it into a computer and clearing codes so i assumed it was fool proof. I'll try to check the voltage tomorrow when I have light.

Yea, reflashing means rewriting the software.

SRS typically you cant clear codes, they have to remedy themselves when corrected.

Besides checking for power/ground, there's not much else you can do but bite the bullet and replace it.

I just had the same issue and I swapped out my steering wheel spiral cable off eBay and it went away. That thing is very delicate so try that, $40 fix and maybe 30 minutes to install.

Most scanners can not read passenger restraint codes, or ABS codes.

the airbag light is only going to be a few things, clock spring, the sensors up by the bumper, the seat belt latch or, what am i forgetting?

call a dealer or big shop and see if they do a free scan. It doesn't need to be toyota dealer.

or spend a few hundred on a scanner that can read everything.

how many miles has your Chinese spiral cable been lasting?

when i used a cheapo one, it only went about 5k miles (hopefully yours lasts a long time). I spend $280 on the OEM after that, and it has been fine for years.

OP said they have a Snap-on scanner that does SRS and we also tried the jumper wire method, no codes are stored.

My Chinese clock spring has lasted 4 years but is now starting to occasionally turn on the SRS light if I beep my horn. I will likely go with another Chinese one because of the simple swap.
