Yes! I have been told six months for the parts (transmission and solenoid?) to get to dealership. I think, they are being cautious. Will this new transmission be any better. I need a crystal ball

did we ever get a build date on both Fostuhh and Smidgelet's trucks? see if they were both built around the same time.

If every owner allows this, nothing will change. 6 months is completely unacceptable. Especially if they are still building new trucks in Mexico.

I think since 2022 they have all been built in Mexico. They started building them in 2005.

I'd feel inclined to ask them if they plan on making 6 months worth of payments since you cant drive it. Its like buying a new house but you cant live in it. o_O

I would be most definitely asking for a free 10 year/125K Toyota platinum warranty if you keep the truck. And if Toyota bulks at that, lemon law it. New Tacomas are being made very day. Chances of getting another one with transmission issues are extremely low. Feds are talking about .25% interest rate cut in September. You may be able to get a new truck for less $$$ than you had paid for the current one.

If you go to Toyota website/Owner, you can register with your VIN# (it is on your car insurance card). After registration you can reprint a Window sticker that was on the car when it was sold. I saved mine as a PDF, so I would have a record of what came with the truck originally. You can also pull up any repair/maintenance records put in by Toyota dealers. And your own. Since I service my wife's RAV4 and Taco, I log oil changes, ATF service, brakes, etc there as well.

I don’t see a window sticker reprint feature in the owners area. Where do you see this?

Let me look tomorrow on a PC. I think it was under "specs", after you register your car.
It used to be an open feature where you could plug in any Yota's vin and get a window sticker. Then they put it behind the owner registration. I used it a LOT when I was looking for my truck. Dealer websites did not have all the info I was looking for.

Sounds like Toyotas plan is to just wait until the transmission fails so we get stranded on the side of the road… then we’ll fix it for you but …..in 6 months. That interview with Sheldon brown was what I gathered from it.

Log into Owners portion of the Toyota website. Choose Vehicle specs from the drop down menu. Put in the Vin.
I see that format is changed, and now it does not look like a window sticker, but almost all the info, except for the price and options codes, is still there.
I pulled a random VIN off a dealer's website this morning:

At one time it looked like this (I erased the identifying info):
