It's less Tacoma and more mod
The oil from shockseals.com gets super sticky too if you leave it out. According to them it's something used in aircraft hydraulics so who knows maybe it's something about the high heat modifier additives

I checked out your build page. I would have been interested if it was 2.25" over.

    Whole lotta stuff
They’re gonna part it out? Don’t quite understand that. LFAs are million dollar cars now. Doubtful that would sell for any less than 200k-300k.

To weigh in on wheel weights, I found some wheels from Modco. Flowformed, with some knurling similar to methods bead grip. 24lbs a wheel. Can’t wait to get them on. I like the forged rays all the cool kids have, but those are like $4.5k a set and without beadlock. But they only weigh like 16lbs.

Crazy to think I’ll be doing a 5k mile check over on this thing already today. First time I will be deep diving into the swing set since it was completed. Not expecting to find anything, but you never know. Everything has been treating me so dang good this year!

Yea from what I have seen online and comparing listed properties I bet shock seals oil, fox red jm92, Bilsteins oil, and locked offroad oil is all F&L ultra extreme. I use the shock seals stuff most of the time now.

I think king is shell tellus T22, but the F&L has a much better viscosity index so I swap most stuff to it. Just annoying when it makes everything sticky.

Maxima makes even better stuff but the 3wt I used to use doubled in price since last summer.

One worth checking out is Lucas shock oil as well. I’ve been running the 7.5w. It definitely takes significantly more abuse than king oil before turning black. It’s also available in numerous viscosities I believe from 2.5 all the way to 10 which is beneficial for different climates and controlling fade.

My rear Kings became so much more predictable and less harsh in cold weather when I swapped to the shockseals stuff. Their factory oil if it is Shell, seems not great for the application

King oil is like 40w oil when it’s cold. It gets unbelievably thick and makes things harsh. In winter I never could get them warmed up enough to smooth out. Both the fox oil and Lucas definitely changed that.

Lots of stuff out there basically saying king oil is pretty bottom of the barrel stuff. I doubt any race teams run it.

It took almost a year for him to get his portals. Bought his in September last year didn’t get it till June when he was told he’d get it after KOH. So who knows, as long as we know it’s going to come out.

I think the king stuff is just a lightweight hydraulic oil

I can’t really find stats on a 7.5wt shock fluid for shell. Hard to tell if it is a fork oil or shock oil but just heads up a lot of fork fluids don’t have as good of a viscosity index because they are more focused on not foaming. I do use them in bumpstops to prevent foam but it probably doesn’t really make a difference.

lucas 5wt shock fluid is like 320VI which seems in between fox and maxima.

and none of this really matters for me because my shocks haven’t gotten over 200 according to the temp stickers haha

This is the key. Most don't push their vehicles hard enough to notice a difference in oil.

The ones who do move to one of the better performing oils, but you have to pay for it.

Even sponsored race teams will use a different shock company's oil for the performance benefit. Assuming it's in their budget of course.

King also makes a distinction between their Race and "Prerunner" series of shocks and that may have a difference in oil as well, I'm not sure. I don't have any intention to purchase more king shocks in the future, I've been mostly unimpressed.
