some people swap the AWD from the Matrix in, but it's a fwd car to begin with. Yes I do believe it has a manual version. Not really interested in a manual swap without adding any power.

just a couple of things tbh
huh that would be kinda neat tbh awd rolla but at that point id just get the matrix lol.

i mean that is true but a manual is a lot more fun to drive fast in a slow car then an auto lol

there’s only been 3 GRCs that have burned up. It’s not good but it’s not like every one is going up in flames.

This is just yet another lesson in not buying the first model year. People gave me shit about my dinosaur tundra but there’s been zero issues with it beyond the fuel pump recall (which I didn’t have issues with prior)

Yeah I shoulda kept my IS300. And I’m sure if I still had my first gen taco I could have sold it for double what I traded it for.

You've got to lay off the crack dude

The Tacomas aren't having issues. Yes, there are intermittent problems with some of the shifters in the manual transmissions. That fix has already been rolled out for free.

There are between 13 and 16 nhtsa complaints about automatics filed for over 60,000 trucks produced. That's a lower failure rate than literally every single vehicle on the road today. And Toyota is still doing those fixes for free even though they are nowhere near their requirements.

As far as tundra's not lasting that also isn't true. Yes, they found machining debris in the engines and they are replacing 100,000 engines for free to make sure that no one gets left behind. It doesn't mean there are 100,000 blown engines or even 100,000 engines with machining debris in them. It means Toyota's doing Overkill on their recalls as they always do. Got to read between the lines man. No other manufacturer. Has this kind of coverage or does this kind of thing to our customers. Yes, it looks bad right now but a lot of people forget that the second gen Tundra also had 2 years of teething issues with their drivetrain.

As for the Corollas... You got to read the actual information. One guy is suing Toyota because his Gap coverage is non-existent and he didn't have insurance and he wants his car paid off. Toyota is very correctly saying hold the phone mofo we're going to look into this because nobody rides for free.

Another Corolla had been in a previous wreck, had damaged noticed by a dealership which he then has no records of fixing and was also clocked at doing 114. Which is roughly 50 mph over North Carolina's top speed limit. He claims it was at a track. Toyota have not come out and said whether that clock data matches his track data if it exists, but currently, it's annoying that several cars have burned up. It's also annoying that people think they can get stuff for free and Toyota didn't become number one in the world by bowing down to scammers.

What'll most likely happen is after a thorough investigation. They're either a going to say these guys are trying to cheat the system or they're one-off anomalies or B. There is an issue and it's going to be fixed for free.

At the end of the day, yes they're just a company with humans who make mistakes. But they have a track record decades long of going above and beyond when it comes to recalls and making sure customers are taken care of. You have to remember the press loves to zero in on the most reliable brand in the world because anything they do is faulty. Makes for good news. When you compare metrics to other companies, which you have to to get it industry baselining, you're going to see a noticeable difference between companies like Toyota and Honda versus companies like Volkswagen and Ford.

I wouldn't say I'm as much as a fanboy as I am a realist. A lot of decisions Toyota have been making in the last few years pissed me off to no end.

What gets me going even more is false information and people jumping on hatred bandwagons. I don't care if it's against Toyota if it's against Star Wars. Whatever. Bandwagoning is dumb and it's why collective human intelligence gets worse every year seemingly.

Now that I've used up an entire calendar's years worth of soapbox privileges, I'll be quiet for a minute :D

We're surrounded by wasteful consumers. Guilty as charged.

And that's the point. The GRC is one of the most fun. Best balanced. Absolutely hug your balls car on the market today. It's tremendous. If I wasn't dumb in a previous life I would get one.
