My buddy with a cut up 80 on 40s sold his for 22k like 4 months ago. It was clean but certainly no longer pristine... suspension wasn't anything that fancy either, just huge tires. I can buy a shitbox one all day long for under 5k but I can't touch one with a clean interior and all its panels plus good running condition for under 15, just not happening anymore.

If you lease something that holds it value decently well it can be an ok financial decision as I understand it.

Maybe the FedEx guy won't be as disgruntled today as the UPS guy was a few weeks ago

FedEx delivery is operated exclusively by independent delivery vehicle contractors... they're disgruntled haha, they're so low on the totem pole they don't even work for the company their delivering for.

Come buy this one then. I bet they’d consider 12.5k cash if you offered it.. it’s been on the market for a minute like I said. You can find clean cars all day under 10k if you get off the enthusiast pages where everyone thinks their clapped woods truck is the holy grail.

I'd consider it an extra loss in both time and money to purchase anything from that part of the country, still be over 15k by the time I get it up here. Also I already have an 80 in great condition :p

    Here's the short version -

A lessee is someone who wants a new car that's under warranty throughout the commitment with the vehicle

(This normally includes avoiding the recurring expenses of maintenance that occurs at higher mileage like suspension, battery, tires, brakes, clutch, etc)

A lessee is also someone that wants a short commitment, maybe he, she, they like switching cars every few years

(Purchasing a vehicle and financing it means being committed to the entire purchase price plus taxes and/or fees. On top of that you're paying interest on the amount financed; goodluck trading it in as you'll carry negative equity unless you put a large down payment on it)

A lessee also wants a low monthly payment, and leases are often less because you are paying only for depreciation, meaning the bank assumes they can sell the vehicle you turned in for whatever the residual value was stated

(More risk to the bank, less risk to you)

There are several more but that's just off the top of my head

Then there are those people that buy a vehicle with the intent to keep it; a lease makes no sense for them and that would be absolutely accurate

But it's not to say a lease isn't beneficial, it just isn't beneficial for them

If you ask about how a lease works again I'm gonna backhand the shit out of you :luvya:

Joining TW hurt my finances a hell of a lot more then a leased truck would've :anonymous:

    Oof

When I got my press brake, I mentioned here how the guy sounded all pissed as I walked out to him with my dolly to help

Today's package is just over 200lbs :anonymous:

If what you’re stung is true, you could have it shipped to your doorstep and still make at least several grand in profit.

    @Ozark_RegCab

You should ask someone to go with you to check out a vehicle once you've committed to actually getting something (with cash in hand)

I give you a lot of shit but I don't want to see you toss your money aside on a shitbox that's gonna give you trouble again

I mean, it's gonna happen unless you up your budget but you are pretty hasty at making a decision

Maybe a second set of eyes can help steer you clear from an actual problem vehicle

The worst situation is to be in debt for a car and on the hook for repairs at the same time. Like owing 20k on a Chevy Cruze that’s worth a fraction of that when all of a sudden the turbo goes out. As much money as I’ve wasted on these old shit boxes, I know it can get a lot worse.

It's not a 30k truck, if I put 5k into it and get it shipped here cause I'm sure as shit not flying down to bumfuck AR to buy it in person or drive it back. I'll be into it enough that turning it around might net me 3-5k in profit here. That margin is pretty low, IE not worth my time. Someone here could buy it though and be very happy, probably would help them to advertise it outside of their state. It'd be different if I wanted another as it looks like a nice starting point for a build for myself (willing to put more time, money, and effort in for myself), but it's not a finished product yet.

Just a 1FZ rebuild would put him in a tent

That's actually a line straight out of the Chevy Cruze sales brochure.

You don’t have to “rebuild” it just cause Mud says you do. Mine was in way worse shape than the one pictured above, and all I really did was replace a few seeping hoses.
