Honestly should just buy a 2020+ Corolla with like 50k for like ~15-18k.

That seems pretty steep when it still has a leaking rack and shot LCA bushings

So, I need to drive this point hard with you -

You're selling your truck, you're not buying your truck

You should not assume anything from your buyer, at all

They either pay your asking, or they don't buy

Doesn't matter if they can fix it themselves, if they'd need to take it to a shop, or if they have a donor vehicle with those extra parts, none of this matters because you are selling it

The minute you understand this difference, you will never lowball yourself when you sell a vehicle

It isn't but he should try to get 6500 from it due to the service getting done on it

He worries too much about what's wrong with his truck, and assumes the buyer to be in his exact predicament which is why he lowballs himself

    Everyone.is.different.

Soon as he understands this, he would be inclined to list it for more (and accept more when people try to negotiate) than his original offer he proposed

    Just need to remain firm

On a truck with that mileage and drivability, I would budget 15k to 17k to bring it back to be something really good.

In the clubs, I've seen and know a number of people who jumped from a 100 to a 200 and then came back because they didn't like the Greyhound bus feel and so much plastics. The maroon 100 is not perfect by any description. But is has always had a solid feel. Doesn't pull, torque steer, and tracks straight. I haven't had the wheels aligned yet. I'm debating whether to replace the rack because of the big parts sale. It has a small seep on the driver side that isn't enough to bother me yet. The only thing that makes any sense about this 100 build is a have a donor sitting next to it with more spare parts and accessories than I will ever need.

Most I see for sale in NWA have been brought into the area from somewhere up north (MO, IL, IN, IA) and bought a dealer auctions. So its not like buying from an original or owner that has lived with the vehicle any length of time. Everybody I know (4) that have bought a used 80 series had to do a head gasket job or engine replacement soon after purchasing it. Looks like the reason people sell them.

I wanted to buy that white 3rd Gen 4Runner from Drew so bad that I can taste it. I could swap in a decent engine. The transmission was recently replaced and he did get a good job. My problem is having a place to work. The HOA busted me for doing driveway engine swaps. So I will need to move them into the garage. That's why I'm installing everything that I have been hoarding to clear out some room to work in the garage.

Meanwhile, the transmission just went out on the 04 Civic with 121,000 miles. The 4th gen Maxima needs the EGR tube cleaned out and a upper intake gasket job -- this really isn't that bad of a job once I can get it into the garage.

The engine seemed strong in this one. I’d still want a compression and radiator test before pulling the trigger though.

04 Civic with a manual is a pretty nice car. Mine's a very clean '05 5MT. IIRC the EX trims got a lower final drive ratio for a sportier feel.

So I guess just.. sell your car and replace it with nearly the same car. Problem solved, right?

Leasing works in the right situations. I've leased before when I was trying to minimize costs, as you are able to almost make it a fixed cost. No maintenance to worry about, smaller payment, makes it easier. All your paying for is the depreciation, which isn't any different than if you buy a car and sell it three years later, you're still out the depreciation of the asset.
