Interiors are easy swap, start on Friday after work, done before work Monday. Btw, what the heck is an evap pump? I have a 2006, is it mine, and how do i rip it out?

    nothing cool
2011 had the honeycomb grille. So it's obviously the best year to buy.

2013 is, by far, the best Tacoma ever, ever made. And the Baja edition of that year is the holly grail of Tacomas. But only in black, and supercharged. Oh wait, I may be a bit biased!!

If you have an 06 V6 your fine. If it's an 06 4cyl then you have the evap pump. They weren't put on the V6 until 2012.

That's right. I forget but regardless, anything 12+ has the smog pump. That's really the only negative about them.

The newer ones (13-15 I think) also have black carpet, nicer steering wheel, white Guages, and a black center console......I prefer the black :)

This thread was extremely helpful! I have a 2005 TRD Sport DCLB which I recently started modifying. I was thinking to myself that I "needed" a rear locker. After reading this thread plus a few others I guess I'm good with the mechanical LSD. Although, I did find out that I need the ABS kill switch!

    I would say 05+ lol. (I own a 05 DCLB)
But your going to LT or heavy off road I would say 08+. Ive heard storys of weak frames around the motor. Newer years Toyota has put some more metal there. But your doing all this you should be Toughing up the frame anyway.

I personally like the 12+ look, So much i have the conversion to do it on my 05. But its on my Todo list.

Maybe I should have said that the '13 was the LAST year that had the camera in the mirror. I jumped from '06 to '13 then '14.

I believe I've heard some of the 05/06's had head gasket issues, but don't quote me on that. I have an 08 TRD Sport, 6MT, 4X4, and the only thing I've really done is one wheel bearing, think the A/C system is having issues too. I'm due for a new clutch soon but I'm still on the original. 194k on the ODO. I did the ECGS sleeve to eliminate the vibration after lifting, but I won't count that because I caused that issue by lifting it. I paid about $16,500 for it 2.5 years ago from the original owner with 145k, haven't been happier with a vehicle!

I have a '14 DCLB with the compass and temp in the mirror. It also has the backup camera in the stereo, so yes, it's a '14. Plus, the clock in the dash. I guess I just got lucky...

So my 2014 is the best and you should look for one exactly like it. ALSO Spruce Mica for the win! Lol

2011. They went nuts with emissions equipment the following year. My 2011 has 200,000+ miles of trouble free driving, lots of serious off roadìn̈g. Low price relative to newer...it's just BETTER

I agree, the '14 is what I have and it's great. I love the front end change they did with the facelift on the last few years like mine. Mine just had a basic rear view mirror. I rode with that for YEARS until I finally found Bob's Auto Mirrors on here somewhere and got one in a kit that I could just plug and play with the harness that was in the head board all along lol Should have done that one much sooner.

Have a 13; I would say the one benefit of the 15 is that it doesn’t have a freaking hood antenna. I still have flashbacks of watching it snap off in an auto car wash that I had to go to before shipping my vehicle with the VPC psychos.

Big fan of the post-it note sized reverse camera in the rear view on the 2013s. Still trying to get use to it being on the head unit in the 4R.

2005-2015 is the right answer tho. Personally prefer the 2.5 gen style update, but remember they had a 2011 in a pretty cool dark green/ almost blue tint color.
