Most of my riding is solo. Doesn't really bother me or matter that much. I used to ride more with other people but as I got into riding longer distances fewer and fewer people either wanted to do it or could do it.

You guys ever go to Cars and Coffees or similar meets? that's how I meet most people. But usually riding with friends is more casual, tougher to find people willing to do the canyon/twisties, or just harder to coordinate since it's more of a commitment.

wish i could get any of my closer friends into it but such is life.

I used to feel this way but at this point having broken bones in a few crashes, I'd rather have whatever safety nets that will 1. keep me off the ground and 2. keep me from getting more hurt if I do hit the ground. I know as a rider I'm not better than ABS or traction control and I can still make mistakes so I'd rather have it.

For a track bike I would be OK not having TC or ABS but only if it was a screaming deal. On the street I'd rather have both.

Going to one on Sunday! It's a C&C at a local coffee spot in the mountains. Lots of cool cars and bikes show up and we get a fun ride out of it as well.

Nice, i'm hitting the usual one Saturday morning with a couple people.

Same as you on the electronic aids. Much prefer to have them on the street. Better safe than sorry.

I'm really conflicted, the KLR is sold. Delivering it to a in-law on the 7th. It will be the 4th bike in his stable. I'm trying to decide if a Speed Twin 900/Speed 400 or new Guzzi T7 is on the books or do I just want to stick with the F800GS as all I have in the harem. I'm leaning to just the F800 as I havent even stuck a key in any of them for a while now. Too fucking hot, today, 101 (111 heat index) been 99 to 106 every day for a couple weeks.

Cheap solution is to run MX grips because you can pinch the inner grip flange against the cable pull assembly with your thumb knuckle. I also like the idea of the velcro thingies that provide a palm heel rest.

Noob question, can I shorten a master link chain? I assume I’d need a chain breaker to do this?

Yep chain breaker and once shortened you should be able to put the master link in at the freshly broken end. But don't quote that cause it's been a while since I've done a chain.

I know you dont care whether you offend or not, so I'll say it up front. You're a kid, for some of us, we can still smell shit in your diaper.

You can say that I'm old, ancient, what ever, but if you're not to the stage you spend money on leather rather than another bike, it is what it is.

It's subjective, I'm a kid to guys who have made 90. If I had my first shot of puss before you finished shitting through cheese cloth, well, it's just what it is. Dont take kid as derogatory, fuck I wish I had 40 more years.

Note that you will have to take 2 links out of the chain though. So test things first (you can "scrunch up" a chain at the back of a sprocket to test this)

    Noted, thanks.

I may match the length to my old chain and start from there. I’m putting on a smaller drive sprocket so I figure that should be safe, then I can remove more links if necessary for tensioning.

Bought a spare master link in case I fubar that somehow

Thank you! And I believe so - this show brings hundreds of cars from any kind of style or generation.

Nice! Looks like it's a pretty big one.

I go to the San Clemente/OC one most Saturday mornings, very nice spread. Tons of motorcycles, and everything from restored classics, to restomod muscle cars, to jdm, electric, trucks, exotics, supercars, etc. Even had one of the Redbull F1 cars once, that was really cool.

I need to try and make something for my Badland jack to do just that. I have a basic MX "stool" stand from Harbor Freight but I'd like something with less effort for chain/oil/shock/etc maintenance.

I was playing with a floor jack and scrap but didn’t trust myself not to knock the bike over while working on it

Yep that works. Be sure to RTFM and view some YouTubes to learn how to properly use the breaker. You also need it for reassembly, many times, even with a master link.
