With it active it allows the computer to autorev the engine for optimal gear shifting when you clutch to change gears. Normally you clutch, then gas to rev for a smoother shift ie no jerk action right? In this case that engine rev is done automatically by the computer so its a lot smoother shifting. It's good for someone who is not used to driving a manual or is learning.

I haven't tried it off-roading yet so I can't comment on that one, but it did make it easier when I tried teaching my wife to drive it. :)

    Cool stuff
Seems like it’s a crutch that will probably cause more slip and wear

It’s mainly for downshifting instead of doing heel-toe. Does nothing noticeable for upshifting.

I used it a bit when I picked up the truck and drove it home (this is my first MT vehicle). I rarely use it now as I find it makes starting out in 1st tricker actually.

I only use it on the highway in case I need to downshift at higher speeds as I am not too confident or have much practice with that yet.

I like it more in town when downshifting to slow down on compression, but it’s pointless there’s hardly any compression. To downshift to pass, doesn’t make much difference because I gun it right away.

    It’s my 8th MT, I should learn heel-toe.

It does the rev matching for you if you are new to manual. The thing I like about it is that it holds you on a hill for 2-3 seconds before it starts to roll back

I don't think that has anything to do with iMT though. There is a built-in 2-second delay from when you release the foot brake to when you start rolling. There is also the brake hold button that worlds like a handbrake and release when you press on the accelerator.

Sorry not sure if I follow I guess I have never really tried driving with it off I just seem to put it on everytime I go out . Maybe it still holds on a hill with it off I just thought I watched a video that said it helped with it. I do think it is supposed to do the rev matching when down shifting.

I believe that the iMT button and the rev matching was added to assist in shifting when using the Dynamic Cruise control
