Hey guys new hear but not to Toyotas. I had a gen 3 4Runner drove it till it caught on fire. Looking to get a truck to last me a couple years till I’m out of school so I don’t want to spend too much more than 15k. There is a 2013 Tacoma 4x4 with 188,000 and the guy wants 18k. Is that reasonable? Is that just because the truck market is crazy right now? Would 15k be an insulting offer or a great deal for me?

We don't know nearly enough about the truck to value it, and of course your specific market matters a lot.

So for a 2 yr stint, in school, do you really 'need' a truck? Do you 'need' 4wd?

There are other transportation options out there that would have a lower TCO and still resell decently.

    Just something to consider

I’m in Jacksonville FL, spend a lot of my time camping, hunting, shooting. Looking to be able to mount my rooftop tent throw some gear in and get to the mountains or beach.

the truck as far as information I have is

“4x4 TRD OR . No issues. Owned for 6 years.

    18k OBO

4.0 V6 interior in good shape. Truck well maintained and cared for. Moving over seas.

Front brakes replaced system flushed and calipers replaced/ serviced 06/11/2022 @150772

    Faulkner Wild peak tires

    06/26/2021@129983

    Oil change happening soon

    Toyota filter and used

    Mobil1”

I guess my big question is the mileage I know wear and tear will be upkeep costs but how do these powertrains hold up in general. If this is maintained well is 250k mileage an easy ask

Yes. But he best have a pile of receipts to support that.

Also, frame rust is a serious issue on these trucks. If it's ever lived where road are salted, or been regularly driven on the beaches if local to you, a careful frame inspection is worth the effort.

The tires appear to have 60k on them. Count on needing new ones.

The 'moving overseas' sets off my warning buzzer. Yea, of course it happens. But it's also a oft repeated phrase in scammer ads.

    Just proceed with caution.

    Here’s something to consider:

I gave my son my ‘18 TRD OR and just picked up an 08 TRD OR with 188k miles and paid $12k for it (one owner). Spent like 7 months looking for a truck because the prices for these trucks are crazy even for those with high mileage.

Here is my list of things that I did to the truck after I got it (not that it needed all this done to it but just wanted to do it because of the miles on the truck): new suspension, front calipers and rotors, rear drums and pads, new water pump, new a/c compressor, new hoses, new pulleys, belts, plugs, oil & filter, etc.

I have a friend who is a high school mechanic teacher and the school has a partnership with Toyota. Had all the work done at the school by the students and didn’t have to pay for labor.
