I always found the TSS to be “diabolical” … they take a SR (in this case) or a SR-5 and give it a bit of makeup and call it something it isn’t. TSS stands for Toyota Sport Series and is a Gulf States Toyota concoction. What is crazy Is that it’s likely the 4CYL 2WD SR badged as TSS Offroad at port. I’ve seen these on the lot in the past and been just as shocked…

Why are the badges so high up on the tailgate and why didn't anyone tell me about the v8 option on the 3rd gens?

Yep, it's a real thing. I have a '23 TSS. I'm sure the label is a marketing ploy, but if you look past that, it's basically the 4-banger SR with some additional things. This one had the black-out package for the rims and "Tacoma" on the back as well as Terra Grappler G2 tires and the oval 5" tube steps. Which are some nice upgrades from the base 4-cyl models. In general pretty happy with it for basic city driving and the occasional run to the mulch-yard.

Seen quite a few, not knocking it for what it is, just that they use terms with it “loosely”. I actually have and prefer the original (before blackout) TSS wheels. Nittos are an upgrade over the Destinations. But I can’t help but laugh seeing Offroad on a non-4WD. There is another version in EST (eastern states Toyota) where they use XP/XS or something similar. A lot of the accessories show up in these before they go mainstream.

Yeah, don’t know how “off-road” 2WD is :D. I actually saw an XS sticker the other day and had never seen that decal before.

It would be funny to do some crazy wrong badges on a Tacoma.

Tacoma has room for v8 engine if you want to install V8 in it. I understand that truck owner use "V8" emblem as a joke if he has V6.

My brother has a truck with Hybrid emblem as a joke but his truck doesn't have hybrid which that confused many people.. My brother usually see someone stopped to snap a picture of that hybrid emblem all the time. He laughed all the way to his truck.

V8 badges aren't cringeworthy like the trucks that have the wheels sticking out past the fenders!

Still don't really see why the truck is being made fun of. Someone is very obviously using it as a work truck, something probably 98% of users here don't do. That truck has more of my respect than half the crap I see on here honestly , v8 badge and all. I'd be willing to bet probably 4 breakfast burritos that he and a coworker have a running joke about how underpowered it is, and slapped the v8 badge on as a joke. Whats actually funny though, is OP is banned and doesn't even get the satisfaction he hoped he'd get from this thread o_O
