You would have more luck convincing him to vote for the orange man than not parking on the edge. Save your breath.

Yeah regearing would be a game changer for the 35s.

The way I see it, it's setup to run them when you're ready for them again. But I wouldn't be in a rush yet given how much you're about to change your life in the next month or two. Probably pay to be a bit patient on this one.

And you already know first hand how many places you can go on 32s. Granted, sliders should be back on the list but that's an easy remedy really. Just cut the tubes off the rest of the way. 4xinovations sliders are still cheap as hell. Getting them burned in will be a challenge I suppose. But once you find a few new buddies down there it probably won't be haha

He was offered some free sliders down in Clarkston and he turned them down... I'm still a little salty about that because I'm sure we could have made them fit and even though he has no place to put them he could have put them in my shop lol

I turned down a free set of slider this weekend..:anonymous: but I hear what you're saying. Have plenty of time to sleep on it, the trailer straps won't fit on 35s so we are committed that far in time at least.

There's nowhere up there that is sheltered, otherwise that's what we'd have done when we moved. Because "sleeping" in seats sucks bad. We could have moved off of the edge and setup again, but there was no way to make the tent work up there, unfortunately.

    Tires. Let's see...
    • Tires themselves seem good.
      • Really nice traction - the rubber is so much softer!
      • Not sure about highway noise, I think a little louder than the S/T Maxx.
      • Diamer is quite a bit larger, as you mentioned.
    • Tire/wheel combo
      • is HEAVY. 15+ lbs heavier per corner, at least, I'd say.
      • Is a little closer to frame, so at almost full lock, tire rubs on resi and resi hose.
      • Looks good. (for being shit poop brown)
I think that ideally for me, I'd have gotten 255/80 instead of 33x10.5, but the Kendas don't come in the 255 size. Of course, S/T Maxx does, but doesn't come in 33x10.5. Anyway, if I can get the resis moved slightly, these seem really nice, so that's next on my list. If I can't get them to not rub, then it's a PITA for the entire lifetime of the tire b/c I'll have to monitor steering angle and take switchbacks wider.

Another solution might be quarter inch spacers. Not sure how good of an idea those are though...

    ^^^ :101010:

    Guilty as charged.

Yeah, they were for a Colorado and IDK if you know this but I'm in no position to fab up anything to make them work, and not interested in hauling parts state to state.... Haha

They are rubbing probably because the offset on those wheels is more inboard than OEM wheels for 1st gens even. I don't rub mine at all. I can rub the hose if I don't install the resi with the hose aimed right, but that's it.

I have the SCS wheels though which I know have more poke than those wheels you have.

Interesting on the noise. I thought they were much quieter.

Weight. Eh. Whatever. Do you think that's mostly the wheels or the the tires or just a bit of both?

Oh we could have figured something out. Someone in CO could have hooked ya up Im sure.

I thought these had the same backspacing as the last wheels I was running, but I just checked and they do have more backspacing. Dang. 4.85" instead of 4.5". I really did think I checked that, grr. So, that plus the .25" extra tire width and I'm more than 1" inboard than before. Maybe a 1" spacer wouldn't be a horrible idea. A lot of folks say they are terrible, but you ran them on Frank didn't you? At only 1", I'd probably have to grind down my studs though, so going back to no spacers later would be a bit of an ordeal...

Noise - I am probably hypersensitive to it right now given the tire change. It wasn't bad at all.

Weight - I sort of figured the same thing. I know each wheel is ~6lbs heavier, and I'd guess the tires are 10lbs each.

I mean you act like you don't have friends in CO. And on top of that you're gonna be pretty close to CO from now on haha

It's still a hop and a skip away lol

I've got too much shit on my plate currently to even think about that shit. All in good time, I might put sliders on. On the list is tires, sleeping platform, rebuild driveshaft and a all poo skid plate. Then lights for the bumper and that should make it pretty solid for my needs.

I doubt you'll have to mod the studs. The OEM front studs are pretty short. I would get some ET Lugs though. I rand 1.5'' spacers for a long time on Frank. Still have em on the rear in fact. Never had issues using the ET lugs and proper torque.

You can run 3/4'' Broja or whatever that company was called spacers with the OEM studs so I'd think you'd be fine with a 1''. But I suppose measure first ha

Well considering the size difference I guess I'm not surprised by the weight.

I don't think a 1" spacer is a huge deal really, just get a quality one and put a little loctite on the nuts that hold it on.

Yup. Probably a blessing Dan couldn't read a calendar as it looks like I'll need a full width platform so I can stuff the spare underneath it

your not gonna fit in the truck with a 35 in there. lol or it'll suck at least

All the more reason to get a 32 IMO at this stage until you can get a bumper or something.

Or you could maybe leave in there vertical on the other side that doesn't have the sleeping platform? idk if it would clear with the topper..

You're missing what I'm saying. 35 laying flat in the bed between the wheel wells. Platform over the top. It'll fit, not a lot of headroom to sleep but not a big deal. Gear will be in tubs on the platform that will get removed each night. It's the only decent solution.
