Interesting about lightstream. Do they refinance existing loans? Best the dealer could do on my 2018 was 9.5% even with a 750 credit score. Said it was due to the truck having 124K on it and being 6 years old. Ill be talking to my CU about a refi but Ill keep that other option in mind.

Edit: disregard, I reread the part about unsecured loans

We’re all familiar with YouTube and Wikipedia rabbit holes, but going down a gofundme rabbit hole can be depressing as all hell, damn

I think there were just a few years of the 5.0 with really bad oil consumption and he was just unlucky.
if I can find someone that’ll use my parts I don’t mind paying someone for stuff like the rack and pinion. But it’s turned into a real saga with this latest mechanic. I wish I was up by Spokane so I could pay you to do stuff right once and for all.

Could you donate just one dollar to help fix my broken truck?

I’m still a bit reluctant due to them being so vague with the criteria for a raise. And 23 /hr is barely more than what you can make as a server or barista these days. I did find a cheap apartment there for 350/month though.

I’m also considering pivoting to data analysis, since I’m a bit jaded with career/comepensation prospects in the environmental field.

If all the LT regulars chipped in with just a dollar, I coops have like 20 bucks to put toward a new Yotashop engine.

Actually Dallas was even more bold and just straight up did a go fund me asking for donations to mod his truck because he didn’t want to pay for it lol. I wonder if that page is archived on there still

9.5% from Toyota sounds about right for age and milage. I'm sure your CU can beat that. We got 4.5 on the 2024 4Runner and that's with a 800+ score. When we head down to socal in October we are going to see if our CU will do better.
Ether way the plan is to pay it off in the next year or two.

I feel like @Ozark_RegCab 's truck will end up in the exact same location Dallas's truck did. At @Empty_Lord 's yard.

I hear you. I think the only thing on my truck is the cab hasn't been off the frame nor has the engine come out. Every other piece as been touched at some point. And like you, if the engine pops, if the axle fails, if the tcase nukes, it's all fixable. Granted now I'm gonna pay out the ass for those fixes, it's still cheaper than having a different car at this point.

I think you'll find you run into the minimum pay wall a lot if you don't have any prior experience in your field. Gotta start somewhere but if you don't and you keep wanting more you'll hit the question of "well why do you think you should be paid more, we start all people with x degree and no experience at this amt"
