Gotta return the tires. They look like monster truck tires!

As someone who runs "somewhat reasonable to scale" tires, you do not want tires that are somewhat reasonable to scale. Not unless you liked playing videogames in Nightmare difficulty mode.

After 3d printing some parts to shoehorn this build, chassis 1 is complete. Chassis 2 is already on order since the wife now wants to partake in a "RC my car" build.

For a brushed, cheap, 2S kit, this thing rips much more than I thought it would. It has some speed to it. Or i should say, it has much more oomph than a living room can handle.

Next up, painting the shell. Best to start taping and masking in the morning... when I'm sober. :burp:

    I like em. I just don't have a vehicle for them. :(

I did see they now have the same set in 1.9 for $45, but I think that the tires are class 1. Besides I like my current 1.9 wheels and I've spent too much already according to my CFO.

Took the TRX4M on vacation, played with it on the beach which was even more fun than I expected it to be, the jetty rocks were a hoot. Will post some pics when I have a few minutes.

Jealous, always wanted to mount some paddles and rip through sand - no real sandy open beaches around here though. Closest I get is wet snow, still yet to try paddles though, have had them new in bag for the last 5 or so years.

Looks like a blast! 2WD or 4WD? If I end up with a spare set of wheels I just might try it out come winter, figure the front doesn't really need paddles in most cases.

It was a blast! We brought a few RC cars with us to the beach that year, two 2wd slashes with paddles and 10.5T brushless motors on 2S (second Slash not pictured), one 3300Kv brushless Midnight Pumpkin on 2S and one Axial Yeti on 2S and 4200Kv BL. The 2wd Slashes ended up being the most fun. Rooster tails for days!beach.jpg

Beauty, would be great fun with the dog - certain snow ends up cutting his paws occasionally, haven't had issues with the few beaches yet though. E-Revo running 6S out here, needed to be pinned the whole time to avoid sinking.

I live in a town with a beach but between work, side job, young kiddo, etc... I have still to make it there with the RCs

Next year on our summer vacation I'm going to bring the MERV and will hopefully have some paddles for it by then lol

@Xinirgi why no paddles for the snow?

Similar to yourself, rarely play with them at home / in town, let alone a dedicated trip to go out and play. Add in laziness as well, lots of that!

As much as the dog enjoys chasing it, he does well simply chasing the 4Runner through the unplowed FSR's, which is more fun for me and better for him as he gets a proper run out of the deal. Most winters when the snow is good, he'll run 8 - 12 km behind the truck before slowing completely down (we take rest breaks every couple km as well).

So what tools is everyone using for their RCs? I have a few smaller sets but am looking for an electric screwdriver specifically for RC use, something small and that's not totally overkill. The Injora one is sold out otherwise it would be an easy buy. What's everyone using?

I use a 1/4" DeWalt 12V impact driver for disassembly and light reassembly. Has an adjustable clutch, but it's still stripped the odd fastener. Usually I'll run any screws till flush then switch to the hex driver that uses the same 1/4" drive keys

I have a rustler project to leave in the owners closet at the beach condo. I got it free and upgraded it to pro line badlands with optional rear paddle tires and a castle motor. I'm going to stop by a hobby shop and grab an esc for it and bash the dunes next week when we go down there. I'm also bringing the jet boat and hoping for a calm morning with low winds to jump it on some waves.

I put the metal diffs in the Grom a few days ago. It was fairly straightforward and took maybe 20 min. The truck drives so much better now and is actually controllable. With the new suspension it jumps and lands a lot more predictably as well.

I wish it had a slipper clutch to prevent the drivetrain from blowing up on impacts but I just need to remember to let off the throttle before landing.

My favorite tire, not the redesigned MX series though.
