This past weekend I spent to and from our cabin in the back seat of the '24 TRD OR. Coming home was better behind my 5'6" daughter driving. It was not quite as bad as I expected but not great. A regional airline or discount flight came to mind. This has been in mind because the Sienna SE now gone was supremely comfy behind the front seats. Same with our Outbacks.

The sound really stood out. In back seat you hear the exhaust noise in a more conventional way.

My ski and MTB trips with pals will be a little different but I expected some compromises. The main reason for my purchase is a tool to help my business, redevelop a property and trail building. We're empty nesters. Having the long bed and having had 4Runner and Sienna is made me question how many have the short bed 4 door pickups as family vehicles.

Do you have the JBL sound system? If so, how was it in the back seat?

If Toyota gave the Tacoma the rear seat legroom of a Sienna, it would also have the ground clearance of a Sienna.

It's fine but different in back seat. Front seat is very much a forward focus, back more conventional stereo and the speakers are low. Sitting with your back at the subwoofer does not make it have too much influence.

The whole sound dynamic is quite different in back seat. You hear exhaust noise and less influence from the active noise cancelling and hear more road noise. It's still not loud. The negative aspect beyond the upright seating that can't be helped is not much under seat foot room.

No. US Land Cruiser aka Prado or 250 elsewhere is built on same platform with more legroom. We don't knew 2025 4Runner but recent generations are better. My point on the Sienna is the Tacoma is not going to be pleasant for 3-4 person road trips like the van or my usual sports posse all having Outbacks, vans or a German station wagon.

In other posts I've said I probably differ from a lot of the enthusiasts here. My pickup is mostly a tool, and my real trucks were Kenworths and Macks. My post was mostly about fully realizing some compromise I expected with the purchase, and in the context of how often I end up being the driver.

The back seat of a new generation Ranger is better but those, the GM competition, most Tacoma by sales volume and the 5.5 ft bed full-size are not good for me and many I know who mostly get pickups for work needs. It is a bummer Toyota didn't carve out a little more foot and knee room.
