When my HVAC controls shit the bed, I requested that my mechanic replace the pigtail; I promptly forgot about this after I ordered yet another HVAC module and installed it. So, my mechanic Pete replaced the wiring with wiring that had been ordered by one of his employees.

My A/C was cranking when I brought the truck in, but incredibly weak when I went to leave. Coldness was NOT an issue. My mechanic determined that the wiring that one of his guys ordered wasn’t thick enough, and I brought the truck back so could reinstall the previous wiring. He promptly ordered thicker, more durable wiring with a heat coating. Unfortunately, it’s gonna be in the mid 90s on Wednesday and he won’t be able to do it until Friday morning.

My mechanic says that constantly running the fan on high is what shorted it out, which is why he’s getting the more durable wiring.

I believe my mechanic gave me all of the old car parts because he felt kind of bad for making my A/C less effective, but now my A/C works fine and the issue is going to be corrected for good; I also got about $40 for all my scrap, including the window A/C!

Yeah. That's a known issue with pigtails.
Most aftermarket ones are NOT the correct wire gauge.

Well, it's all gonna work out because I got some extra stuff to scrap today, and the wiring will be fixed on Friday morning in approximately 20 minutes...

Thing is in MA we still have to get the yearly safety..and the $35 charge is whether it's safety only or the whole thing.

After moving down to PA literally in April Fool’s
Day in 2023, Amanda lived with her now-former friend Emily in an apartment in Ambler until the beginning of October 2023, so approximately six months.

Amanda had the address of that apartment on her driver’s license, and that is also where she was registered to vote. However, aside from contributing to the rent and other expenses in cash from time to time, Amanda was never on the lease or any other bills for that apartment.

Emily, who is a spoiled rotten ungrateful bitch, moved out of the Ambler apartment and into a condo paid for in cash by her wealthy father, at the end of May 2024.

For my followers not living in the Philadelphia area and/or Pennsylvania, PECO is the electric/gas company for Philly and the overwhelming majority of the outlying suburbs.

Emily’s apartment was all electric (heat, hot water, stove, etc), though I don’t think this really matters.

Amanda was with me at Pete’s yesterday waiting for my truck to get inspected, and she got a call from an unknown number with local area code. She answered it, and it turned out to be PECO.

Apparently, there was some sort of clerical error that led to Emily and her dad being charged an electric bill for the month of June, even though Emily had moved out of the apartment at the end of May. Emily’s dad is a millionaire and could easily afford to pay it, but based on principle he is refusing to do so; I don’t know if he’s consulted a lawyer, but as big of an asshole as Emily’s dad is, I agree with him here.

Well, PECO wants the money and seeing as it’s now almost September and the money owed is for the month of June, I’d imagine they are getting pissed. I am guessing that they tracked down my girlfriend through her driver’s license and/or voter registration, but what I really like to know is how in the hell they got her cell phone number!

My girlfriend has absolutely no ties to this apartment other than the fact that she lived there for six months. Emily’s dad paid the electric bill, the water bill, the cable bill, and most of the rent.

So, an argument took place with Amanda telling PECO that while she lived at this apartment for six months in 2023, her name was not on any paperwork and the unpaid electric bill wasn’t her problem.

Amanda officially ended her friendship with Emily months ago, and refuses to talk to her because it stresses her out, but we both decided it would be a good idea to call her yesterday considering the circumstances.

Emily confirmed that she and her dad were refusing to pay the electric bill, but she expressed utter confusion and shock at the fact that Amanda was getting called by PECO. There is absolutely no way the electric bill could have been put in Amanda’s name without her knowledge, so for the first time in over a year, I believe that Emily is actually telling the truth.

I think PECO is just really desperate for the money, and they were able to track down Amanda through a her DMV records and voter registration as stated above. Any ideas on what to do if they keep calling?

Are you sure it isn't in her name? It happens a lot without people's knowledge.

I don’t know how or why it would have been put in her name, but there’s gonna be hell to pay on the part of Emily and her dad if it is…

If the bill was not in Amanda's name, she doesn't owe it.
The person that is the owner off the account is responsible. Unless Amanda was listed on the account too?

Now, the owner of the account "could" sue Amanda for the amount of the bill.
But unless the bill is A LOT, it wont be worth it.

I would tell PECO to send me the bill and papier work, showing where I had signed an agreement to be liable for the account.
    If they can't do that.........Fu<k'em.

Tell PECO you are happy to provide the billholder's information and they are no longer to call Amanda. All I'd do

If she was not listed on the lease or on the electric companies bill then l don't see how they could hold her responsible.

About a decade ago, some guy who shared my first and last name rented a UHAUL truck from a UHAUL facility about an hour from my house, and never returned it. Apparently, one of UHAUL's tactics for tracking down a missing vehicle is to call everyone whose name matches that of the scofflaw renter, which makes little sense because they would probably just lie. I have rented two UHAUL trailers since November 2023, but I returned both of them the same day. This incident happened back in the summer of 2014, at which time I had never rented a UHAUL anything; I know it was after August 2014 because my dad had rented a UHAUL truck to get some of my grandma's stuff up from Virginia, but he had returned it. I thought it might be related to that, even though that rental contract was in my dad's name and I never drove the truck; I rather gruffly told this woman that I'd never rented a UHAUL before, and that the only truck on my property was my own personal vehicle (the Tacoma). She was satisfied and we hung up.

But yeah, even the biggest and most sophisticated companies aren't the most efficient at tracking down deadbeats, and what we are seeing right now is just a desperate attempt to get the money by any means necessary.

On another note, I got called for jury duty twice in less than a year, when I believe the time period is supposed to be three years...? It may have been within a year and a half, but it was definitely less than three years.

I went in for jury duty the first time, which was in the summer of 2010; I was an alternate juror, didn't called, and basically got paid ten bucks to sit on my ass. I was allowed to bring my laptop in, and spent the two or three hours surfing the net; I ain't complaining!

The second time was 2011 or 2012, and the jury duty fell on a date when we would have been on vacation in Virginia Beach. I just filled out some stuff and my mom handled the rest of it. A vacation that has been planned months in advance is a legit reason to get out of jury duty, so I didn't have to go; I have not been called for jury duty since.

I think it's similar to insurance companies lowballing people, they hope you'll just do it and they get something over. IDK..

I've heard of it happening re jury duty but at least here if it's sooner than 3 yrs you can be excused citing the prior call. I got called every 3 like clockwork in my 20s, maybe 1-2 times since. Never been chosen though.

Before I tell this story, just let me tell everybody that I do in fact have magnets on the tailgate of my truck expressing viewpoints that roughly half of this country disagrees with. Anyway, it happened on Monday while Amanda and I were driving from the scrapyard to the bank…

I was making a left turn from County Line Road onto Meetinghouse Road, at a fairly busy intersection that does not have a left turn arrow; I had gone into the intersection before the light even turned yellow, and as I’ve done countless times before, I made a left turn once the light turned green. A girl in an older Nissan Altima (of course it was a roughly 2002-2011 Altima) was coming from the opposite direction, intending to make a right turn; I expected her to stop because her, I don’t know, she had a fucking a red light?!?!

I made a left, she didn’t stop, and she almost T-boned me on the passenger side. She didn’t beep or anything, but as soon as she got in behind me, she started tailgating me. She also took out her phone started taking pictures; I don’t know if she was taking pictures of my license plate or the aforementioned tailgate magnets.

She had a Pit Bull in the car with her, which Amanda initially mistook for her flipping me off.

So, she rode my ass for a good mile, continuously taking pictures of my truck. Eventually, the road went from one to two lanes; I stayed in the right lane because I needed to turn right in order to get to the bank, while she got into the left lane. All of her windows were down, and I wasn’t in then mood to have some young Karen screaming at me, so I made sure nobody was behind me and slammed on the brakes. She flew past me and that was the last I saw of her; I guarantee you that if she’d hit me, at worst my insurance company would have ruled it 50/50.

My liability coverage exceeds Pennsylvania’s mandatory minimum, and I also have a $1 million umbrella policy because for some stupid reason, Pennsylvania law won't allow me to have a policy of more than $100K for property damage and $300K for liability/personal injury.

My area is fairly wealthy, and while it’s not Beverly Hills where there are Ferraris and Rolls-Royces on every street corner, there are lots of late model vehicles that are easily over $100K. If have an accident that’s my fault and the other vehicle involved is a $110K Jeep Grand Wagoneer, I absolutely refuse to go bankrupt, so that’s why I have the umbrella policy.

I also have a dashcam and know a couple of really good attorneys, in case the other party decides to be a scumbag.

I’ve had my driver’s license since May 2011, I managed to not get pulled over until May 2017, and I would say that driver’s really started turning into assholes towards the end of 2018. One of the lesser reasons that I stopped doing DoorDash and Uber Eats is because there are lots of assholes on the road these days, and the less I drive, the less chance I have of encountering those assholes!
