Oh there’s been a lot more than that. I mean it’s already on its second engine at “only” 250k miles.

Who knows what the circumstances for the first failing was though... run out of oil is hardly the engines fault for example

Flame away? Thanks for permission. Stop playing the victim with everything in life, like I said earlier you gotta push through the hard parts in life. Whether that's applying your master's degree to a job, or dealing with something as minor as a truck repair, you're always looking for easy path. It's as if it's the consequences for your actions. Hopefully one day you'll figure it out, genuinely. Sure it's a bit tough love. But if you want to whine about being poor, look at the choices you make that out you there. Certainly it's the car maintenance doing it. I am certain a car payment AND maintenance will certainly fix that for you. I'm sure working at the coffee shop with pay big dividends too. We all want to see you be happy and successful but you do this all to yourself.

You have the most knowledgeable people when it comes to these trucks right here in front of you trying to help you, and yet you dismiss it every time because of something you read on Facebook or Tik tok. Or the mechanic that is superior in his knowledge because he took a running truck and made it non-running. It's mind numbing how you operate.

I wasn’t trying to lay the victim; if anything I’m a victim of my own dumb decisions and constant overthinking.
Yea who knows. Some of the early 5VZ had head gasket issues before they’d fully worked out all the kinks from the 3.slow

my 96 4runner is still on it's early OG 3.4l with 266k miles. Maybe I just jinxed it, who knows. Still running strong and all the oil leaking out of it keeps the skid plate and undercarriage shiny.

Seems like you've never really been "forced" with tough decisions to become as indecisive as you are :burp:

IIRC the HG issue with the 3.0 wasn't the gasket itself but the way the manifold was positioned too close to it causing the gasket to fail from the heat over time? Nevermind the fact that it barely made more power than the 22re but with the appropriate fix it was just as reliable.

Well you weren't trying but it seems to be a theme. Honestly this whole move to Idaho (if you buck up and do it) will be good for you.

A new environment is hugely invigorating

Helped me mentally for damn sure; both after my divorce (left IL) and again after I retired (left the Central Coast)

So I whole heartedly agree with this statement
