For those in AZ, Big Brand Tire off E Raintree Dr. in Scottsdale is an option. It took a few hours as there were a lot of customers, but they did my oil and filter change, installed new Toyo AT3's and performed an alignment. I brought the oem filter and the Valvoline 0w-20.

They do good work and are friendly/customer oriented. :)

I too have not bothered with the free oil changes but that's pretty damn good service on their side. I doubt many dealers, regardless of make and proximity, would do the same. They'd tell you to get your ass down here for another "free oil change" so they could forget or overtighten something else.

Yeah. While I likely won’t use them
For oil changes anymore I won’t rage on them online. Everyone wins

Stories like this are what had me doing my oil changes myself right from the start. Sometimes free isn't really free. Stripped/cross threaded skidplate bolts, oil filter housings installed by The Hulk or with no filter in them, missing fill caps, loose or overtightened drain plugs, etc....... Unfortunately these guys are likely paid on flat rate and during the years I was a dealer tech we were paid 18 minutes to get the work order and keys, find the vehicle in the lot, bring it in, put it on the lift, change the oil, look the vehicle over, fill out the paperwork, pull it outside, and return the keys and paperwork. Not making excuses for them but this and upselling nonsensical stuff is the sh1t the flat rate system breeds. I left the trade rather than continue to participate in it.

    Just as a final update.
Oil was in fact changed and it was nice and amber and watery 0w20
The filter housing wasn’t on too tight
    There was a filter !
Both O rings were present also!
Skid plate bolts were too tight though

    were back in business

I've worked at three dealerships, so have some experience.

Drive it back in and show the service writer the oil fill hole with no cap. Let them give you a new cap. Then go in and speak to the sales manager and tell them about your two disappointing experiences. Don't be an ass, just be businesslike. Tell them three strikes and you'll be buying elsewhere. Dealerships like to retain customers and they have all kinds of perks that cost them practically nothing to mollify unhappy customers. Ask for a set of floor mats to give you confidence that they really want you as a customer.

And then... if they don't make things right... do business with the next dealer.

If it's worth their time to go in the first place, it's probably worth it to go back and complain.

Sometimes I wish I had the patience to drive to and wait for a mechanic, but it's literally a better use of my time (and money) to do things myself

On my 2nd Gen, I took it to my local dealer, not where I bought it, for the rear leaf TSB/ recall. the Service writer commented that the driveshaft was ok. the next day he tells me the driveshaft is bent(??). Didn't try to blame me and they replaced for free, the shocks, leafs and shaft without giving me the shaft..

Weird then, how he got messed up both times. Maybe he brought the truck same time same day, so it would be same dude. I know it happened with one of my friends, morning shift would never rotate tires.
