    This is a good find. It is slightly more expensive and takes more effort than plastidip (you'd have to remove the factory ones first), but it may hold up better over time.

    So, today I started plasti dipping my fender flares. Well, I've screwed up both front flares twice trying to take the tape off. Does anyone know how long to wait to take the tape off and how? I used a pocket knife around the edges and when I lifted the tape off the plasti dip came with it. I only had enough time to do both front flares and in doing so I had to do them twice. I'm so pissed :mad:

    When I did my inner fogs I was told to take the tape off fairly quick so it doesnt dry to the plasti-dip and have what happened to you. It worked real well.

    Interesting, Ive never really had a problem with tape. You could maybe to try and not use tape and then get in there with a real fine exacto knife afterwards but dont really wanna damage the paint. Not really sure though, im sure other people have ideas.

    Yeah the plasti-dip does dry fairly quickly from what I remember.:rolleyes: I dont know if plasti-dip is as reliable as people think it is. After doing my inner fogs, the drivers side held up for a while through high pressure car washes but after like the 4th time, it seemed as if water got under the bottom part of the plasti-dip and took the plasti-dip off of the paint. I had to just my fingers and work it back down and now there are little crease marks on it. I still high pressure wash the truck but am just extra careful around the inner fogs.:cool:

    The tape seems to be thick enough but its the plasti dip thatss being a pain. I trimmed it around the rubber seal on the fender flares.

    You have to work kind of quick with plastidip, opposed to other paints you'd use. I'd say do what WW FIREFIGHTER said and just paint and remove it quickly. if that doesnt work. PAINT YOUR ENTIRE TRUCK TO AVOID FURTHR PROBLEMS....you wont do it... Test it somewhere else first just do your tail gate with a piece of tape and spray over it and then remove it quickly

    Why not just pull the flares off and spray them? Plasti-Dip dries fast, you have to spray then as soon as you hit it with the last coat start peeling the tape away. Time between coats should be minimal, just don't spray too heavy.

    Try using note cards. thats what i used on my rims. Also as said above, dont wait for it to dry. take the tape or notecards off after you are done spraying.

    By the way, if your trying to do this outside, make sure your not in the sun. First time I tried to plasti dip it dried way too fast because I was in the hot sun, and it looked bad, so I had to peel it off and start over in the shade.
