Get it running right and it'll serve you well for a long time. Certainly cheaper than going out and buying something else. And if you do move to Idaho you'll appreciate having a truck with 4x4. If they truck doesn't fit your lifestyle, we get it, but just dumping it to get something else expecting the grass to be greener and life to be cheaper is what was bugging me yesterday.

I also understand but don't accept the feeling of putting money into a truck that you don't feel is "worth it". My trucks work what, $6k, and if it needed a $3-4k repair, most would say HELL NO. For me that would be money well spent to keep a car on the road that's paid off and enjoyable.

I lucked into mine with 134k on it pulled and dropped into my bed for $550 at a junkyard, that was like 8 years ago tho

 

I just don’t really have a way to go pull it and transport it back. Looks like Yotashop isn’t doing 5VZ long blocks anymore btw.

 

If I got new heads, wouldn’t I have to order the gasket kit, and maybe a bunch of other random parts? It could add up really quick to the cost of a newer engine.

find one on car-part.com , lots of yards will pull/palletize/ship to a local yard for ya


I get the sense that I am a little more risk tolerant, if the compression numbers test good run that shiiit. keep all your injectors/sensors etc for spares

 

If they could deliver it to the mechanic that’d be ideal

I know once my wife got home from work if I said I need to go help a friend do something, she would just tell me to be safe
